    Cancer Weight Gain

First of all, you still look great--I can't see much of a difference between April 2018 and December 2019. However, the more important issue is your health. I'm sure that cancer had a huge physical and emotional impact on you, and right now you should focus on your recovery from cancer more than on your weight issues. (I say this as a cancer survivor myself.) You can deal with your weight once you are clearly on the other side of the cancer. Please don't beat yourself up about your relatively small weight gain. You have been through a lot!

    What are you BINGEING????

Watched Night Manager when it first came out & it was great. Sad to hear it wasn’t popular in the US. Excellent cast. Heard they were making another one but ... Be warned Walking dead is excellent until the whole Negan story line. Series 7 was the last one I watched. Had watched it religiously when it came out but that was the end for me & I like Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Thumbs up for Mindhunters. The Boys is good too. A twist on the Superhero genre. A moody Karl Urban & a blonde Anthony Starr. (Recommend Alan Ball’s Banshee, also staring Anthony Starr, too.) Intending to watch The Watchman next & looking forward to season 2 of Ricky Gervais’ After Life.

On Prime: The Night Manager ( seriously have no idea why this isn’t more popular) New series out on Epix by the Downton Abbey peeps. Belgravia . It just started and is on episode 2, airs Sunday nights in the US. Netflix: *Mindhunter, You, Ozark, Broadchurch, Gilmore Girls, Schitts Creek, Great British Baking Show, Virgin River.. (meh, but mindless) and Queer Eye. I’ll watch anything Ted Bundy and Serial murder related.... *LOVED Mindhunter Thanks for the tip on The Innocence files! I had to stop watching Handmaids Tale, felt like it was getting to close to reality and freaked me out. I loved Unorthodox too! It made me think of another one. This is on YouTube for free; Becoming a Nun. Think mean girls meets a convent... lol

    Cancer Weight Gain

Hey everyone! I'm looking for advice and encouragement. I had my weight loss surgery in December 2016, so I'm 3.5 years out now. I dropped around 160 pounds, from my biggest being 360 and my smallest being 187. I was so blessed to lose so much in about 14 months. Maintenance was relatively easy at first. I purposefully gained 15 pounds because being 6'2 with a large build, 187 started getting me questions about being sick. 200-205 is my personal goal and sweet spot, where I feel the best and think I look the best. Fast forward to September 2019. I was having my first endoscopy since my surgery, as a follows up to Barrett's esophagus that was found when I had my bypass. What I thought would be routine, turned worst case scenario when I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Apparently I'm in that 2% that has Barrett's that actually progresses to cancer. Luckily we caught it very early stage and I have been able to have ablation therapy treatment versus the typical chemo and radiation. I've developed recurrent esophageal stricture due to scar tissue from ablation therapy, causing me to choke frequently. Needless to say, it's all been very scary, and my eating got out of whack for a while. I've quickly gained weight and I'm at 220.2 today. I need to lose 20 pounds ASAP. The current COVID-19 situation and working from home, having access to food 24/7 coupled with stress eating is proving difficult to overcome. I thought I'd post here to see if anyone has words of encouragement or advice to help me get back on track quickly. 3.5 years and I was very proud to be maintaining at my goal weight of around 200, and now I'm scared the scale will continue to creep up on me.

Don't know current weight, but I consider any loss of weight before the surgery a bonus, a pre-op liquid diet may boost that. If you do have a particular enlarged liver it wouldn't hurt to attempt to shrink but I am not sure if a one week liquid diet would do all that much, a lot require a two week liquid diet. Another way to look at the liquid diet is an opportunity to start getting into post op mode.....practicing as it were.

    What are you BINGEING????

You should binge the best TV show in the world that no one watched: Breaking Bad. It has incredible characters that you will love and hate simultaneously. You'll laugh, cry and scream--all at the same time.

I had my surgery with them on January 6th with Dr. Sakata. They were wonderful and I wholeheartedly recommend them. The people were caring (almost if not all of them that work there have had the surgery, so they understand the nerves and everything and can sympathize), and when I had a few complications from my gallbladder, they helped me take care of it and took it out as well (a month after my sleeve).
