    Finally seeing some change!

I have been struggling to stay on track recently. Some of my clothes are fitting better, but I could not "see" any difference. Photo below are 15 weeks apart. Starting weight 228, surgery weight 219 (Jan 8, 2020), current weight 189. Goal weight?. I had a revision to RNY in Jan 2020. Previously banded in August 2008. Lost 60 lbs, gained 30 before revision. I CAN'T FREAKING DECIDE!

Wow, thank you so, so much for replies! They were super helpful and I have actually made up my mind finally, woo hoo! I have decided to go with the bypass due to my bmi and due to issues with my metabolism being slow from my hypothyroidism, but mostly because I feel I can definitely meet my goal weight and stay at that weight successfully with this surgery. I am new on here, so I really appreciate the thoughts and insights!

    I CAN'T FREAKING DECIDE!

actually, a lot of surgeons are now recommending that sleeve patients avoid NSAIDs as well, so that might not be a consideration anymore. I chose RNY because I had GERD, but also, at the time I had surgery, the sleeve was still relatively new, and I wanted something with a lot of research and data behind it. I was afraid the sleeve might end up being Lapband 2. However, the sleeve has been around long enough at this point that it's proven itself. If I had to choose again, I'd still choose RNY because of the GERD issue, but if it weren't for that, I'm not sure which one I'd choose. They're both good surgeries and you'll find many people who've had success with both.

    END OF MY ROPE

I'm sorry you had a rough recovery. I had a mini bypass March 16th and couldn't be happier. Have you discussed your concerns with your surgeon or dr? Weight loss surgery does change your internal body rhythm so you might need to adjust diet and speak with a dietician? Good luck xx

    I CAN'T FREAKING DECIDE!

There are a lot of people on here who post about why ther choice is the gold standard, the best, etc. What I’ve gathered is most people who follow their plans have success and few complications with either surgery. My surgeon recommends the sleeve unless people have GERD. I think I would have been happy with either, and the sleeve was the right choice for me. It’s really a matter of personal preference. If your surgeon isn’t guiding you, you may want a second opinion just to get more information to help you decide.

I'd try some protein for breakfast instead of the cheerios and if you can I would get your bloods done, you may be anemic and need iron. Best of luck, hope you feel better Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327AZ using BariatricPal mobile app

I feel you... I've been having really bad dizzy spells for a couple weeks and almost blacked out more than once. My doctor gave me a TON of medicine including meclizine and none of it is helping... I've always been slightly hypoglycemic so I'm wondering if mine is caused by low blood sugar levels. I don't have a glucose testing kit to check though... The thing that makes me doubt it being low blood sugar levels for myself though is that usually when my blood sugar is low I shake really bad. Like full on shaking. I'm not shaking at all. I hope they figure out what's going on with you and can help you quickly so that you don't have to keep going through something so scary!

    Bacon....

I guess I am the exception, but I was not told to not eat bacon or sausage; I pretty regularly have 1 turkey sausage link with my breakfast. It only has 4 grams of protein, but 4 grams for 35 calories is a pretty big protein hit. I try for about 15 grams (or more) of protein per meal/snack. You could try a link or 2 of turkey sausage and some cream of wheat with some plain protein powder added to get a higher protein breakfast. By the way, I also make various dishes using Italian style turkey sausages; turkey chili, Cajun style sausage and beans with cauliflower rice, or a tomato and sausage crumble over spaghetti squash with some parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. I am 2 months post sleeve. I have lost 23 pounds since surgery, and 33 pounds including the 3 weeks of pre surgery diet. I am happy with my weight loss, it is not the huge numbers some people have, but I look at an average of 3 pounds a week as a good rate. I have not "cheated" since the surgery, but the rules from my team are pretty loose; hit your protein goals, hit your fluid goals, and then fill in (if you can) with fruits and vegetables.

    Bacon....

My surgery was 2/26. I have eaten sausage and ham a bunch of times. Didn't really think I was cheating. Heck I had a small bowl of sausage and peppers last night. I've lost about 35 so far but I'm a guy so its different.

    single sucks after surgery

ok I cant believe I am jumping to this thread to tell my story in hopes that you can relate or find hope or commonality in my story. I had my first Surgery as My Marriage was coming to an end it was an attempt to save it but was a joke, nothing was going to save it. I got banded and got miserable throwing up all the time lost 30 pounds and divorced healed a little emotionally. Started dating, Still heavy not as heavy thought like you it was easier to date fatter. Anyway, flash forward 5 f**king years of no luck no love dating. uckkkkk to the nth degree. but I knew I wanted love. And kept trying. I eventually said ok if not love than an education. So I went back to school and got a degree lol still no luck no love dating. But I wasn't as focused on it. But still dying inside wanting to be in love or at least like, and a partner to go through things with. Well despite my pathetic attempt with the lap band I gained it all back. Finally after a trip to emergency room I decided to have it out and got sleeved. Finally real weight loss. Still dating no luck no love dating. I kept trying because like I said I wanted love. I did everything people said "learned to really love myself" I wasn't even close had to really figure that **** out. Weight or no Weight. Got it mostly figured out. Kinda, Being obese is a mechanism to not really deal Food was my drug, OK so Finally still dating now thinner a little more success. And then it happened met him On Zoosk. But the best part was we went to a restaurant on our first date and as we are looking at the menu, he starts to say, oh I really dont eat much not sure if you would understand but I had this thing done to my stomach. LOL I just looked at him in disbelief. Not to mention I was digging him anyway. Well there it was we split our first of many Entrees "steak tips" laughed about Protein shakes and all that went with the first year. He was a year and a little out I was nearly two years out. Ok so Moral of the story don't give up but don't focus on it. And while you are waiting get **** done. Getting my degree was amazing. I used to pray for God to send me a Man a good man, Or at times any man. When I stopped focusing on that and my pray changed to Get me to graduation and let me be thinner or at peace with my weight. So year after 7 long years I did it. I am in love with a man who has a gastric sleeve and teenage boys who play sports and video games like mine. Sorry to tell you the sappy story. Best of Luck Dawn Marie
