I have struggled with my weight since I was five years old. Late in 2016- at 28 years old at my heaviest weight- I had my first appointment with a bariatric surgeon in Akron, Ohio where I live and began the steps towards gastric bypass. I was so scared. But I knew that I would rather risk my life than live like this forever. I feared that my parents would bury me in 20 years and that my sister would become an only child. I knew I had to do something. I had tried everything. Between the ages of 8-28 I had tried everything under the sun. I could not lose/maintain the weight loss. On June 26, 2017- I had gastric bypass surgery. I have lost/maintained 180 pound weight loss. I have a whole new life. It is quite beautiful. I look forward to living everyday. I share my journey on Instagram - (my name on there is Maddie5088) and I also have a public Facebook Page called Mornings with Maddie. I created a blog almost a year ago that focuses on sharing my journey, creating/sharing healthy recipes. You can find it here - foodfitnessandbeauty.com I share body positivity, kindness, self love, inclusivity, healthy recipes, grocery hauls, I do monthly giveaways, how to meal prep, affordable/easy meals for bariatric patients and I do Q and As for Bariatric patients. I have felt very called to share my journey with the bariatric community! I hope you come follow along my story! It’s been a heck of a ride! Xoxo Maddie

I'm really struggling! I'll be 2 years post op in July (too much math). I lost 95 lbs. since surgery and 130 lbs. all time. Since the beginning of this year I've had a lot of issues and have gained 18 lbs. It seemed like it happened overnight. I'm the kind of person who needs serious structure. What BASIC diet/meal plan can I follow going forward? I had RNY Gastric Bypass, and am a pescatarian, but I can substitute seafood for anything. ANY help would be very much appreciated. Take care and stay safe, all. 💜

I received this today from Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor. All elective surgeries are postponed until after 4/10/20. Our directors are reassessing this timeline every day since things are changing very quickly. As of now you are still scheduled for 4/15/20, but if that changes our schedulers will be reaching out to as soon as we can. I think I'd be more comfortable waiting at this point anyway.

    Surgery cancelled

I was due to have my gallbladder removed today, and it got cancelled at 3.15pm yesterday. I was upset for a while, although I understood that coronavirus patients had to be prioritised. On the plus side, I had to do a liver shrinking diet for 5 days, and I lost 5 lbs. 😊

    Hair loss

Haven't had my surgery yet but I know biotin has been recommended to combat hair loss. These are the ones I bought. Hope this helps. It's MY time!

    Question about food

Real good makes a protein mini pizzas that are very high in protein and low in carbs because the "dough" is actually thin grilled chicken. I enjoy them very much.

I have my 3 month follow up this coming Wednesday. They do a group session with the Internist and a dietician. I've been waiting for them to cancel, but instead I just got an email they've moved it online/video conference which is great.

    Diet

From what I've heard, the liquid diet is to shrink your liver so there is easier access to everything for the surgeon. I've heard some surgeons don't have their patients do it though so I'd check with your doc on that. I'm starting my journey as well, 2 1/2 months into my 6 months of appointments. Best of luck to you!!!

    Major Stall

Congrats dude!!!! Are you weighing, measuring, and logging EVERYTHING goin' down your piehole? If it's a few months, I think you need to go see your nutritionist and tighten up the plan? You might have to start trickin' your body by changing things up now and then. I still do that to maintain. I almost never eat the same number of cals/carbs/protein, or fat each day. Some days are SUPER DUPER wlm low with IF. Some days are pretty high for me 1400-1500 cals. But over all average is 1100 in maintenance. Congrats on the 248lbs! That's outstanding!!! Also, switch up the intensity of your exercise.
