    I’m so nervous!

Just had my surgery 10 days ago! I was very excited, but very nervous too--even thought about backing out a couple of times as the day drew near! Honestly, the first day after surgery was the worst, not because of pain, but because they kept trying to get me to drink fluids, and I just didn't want to. I had some nausea, but no unbearable pain--it was more like an achy discomfort, like when you have a tummy ache. The doctors were great with intravenous pain medication so if I got too achy they gave me this very cool stuff that made me feel oh, so nice, and put me right to sleep...lol I was sent home the day after my surgery with pain pills, but never needed to take them--a couple of Tylenol did the trick for any residual soreness. Really, by day 4 I felt completely normal, as if nothing had been done at all! Just get ready to enjoy a few days of pampering, and a reason to get some extra sleep. Aside from feeling a little groggy from the anesthesia, you will be fine in a day or two and ready to begin your journey to freedom!

yes - the first six months or so are the quickest weight loss - it slows down a lot after that. I was probably losing 5-8 lbs a month during months 6-12 (but I started out way heavier than you, so yours might be slower). Then it REALLY slowed to a crawl after the year mark. that said, mine kept going until I was about 18-20 months out.

The best piece of advice I can give is to go in positive. Don't assume you'll have complications. Yes we hear from the people who have issues and are in pain, tired, etc. But that's because they're feeling bad and want help and support. What we tend not to see is the other 98% of us where everything went off without a hitch. I walked and walked and drank a ton of fluids and was home from RNY within one day and in no pain within 4-5 days. At 5 weeks out I am jogging, light weight training, and basically back to or better than normal. Go in thinking you're going to rock this and nothing is going to stop you and you're going to walk and sip fluids and kick the surgery's ass. And do it. Move. Drink. Repeat. Also, hydrate like a camel the day before surgery. Literally like a gallon or more. My surgeon swears by this because people who go on hydrated tend to do better. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

    Weight gain

You may want to also come join us for our online weekly support meetings face-to-face. It's a great group of people who really help you work through your struggles and help you do the head work. And we have great ideas for getting back to basics. PM me if you want the deets. (It's in addition to getting back here to BP and staying active and engaged.) We will always be pre-disposed for regain because of our disease. WLS only puts that disease into remission. After that remission is determined by our gut/head/fork. (hugs) Sorry, but it's true for the largest majority of people in this world. Only a short few are blessed to never have to revisit the risk of regain. But I've seen SO MANY tackle their regain (100+lbs) of it and be victorious by strapping on the brass balls, rollin up their sleeves and getting back to basics!! It can be done. You guys can do it! @catwoman7 is living proof and so many others like @healthy_life2 (not tagging for some reason).

Also, messing with the guts can cause a disruption of neurotransmitters that affects our mood! Make him get moving, get in sunshine when possible and also watch comedies! Laughter releases endorphins (happy hormones)! And follow @Berry78's great advice!
