Thanks guys! Yes, I do tend to obsess over the scale. I guess I've been burned so many times by diets that failed that I'm worried this will just be another disappointment. I will tuck it under my bed and forget it is there for a while! Out of sight, out of mind, right? It is very encouraging to have found a forum like this and to connect with people who have been where I am right now! Thanks so much for sharing your experiences!

    Question about tracking

I count them toward my fluid intake, too. The only thing I don't count is caffeinated coffee.

No you are fine - Your body is going thru healing and you are holding water - Just stay on the plan and remember this is a journey not a sprint. You are in the toughest times right now and it gets easier and smoother as you go along

    I cheated...

Sounds like you are in a good place, Tom. Just use it as a learning experience that you don't have to repeat now. Cheating a little bit isn't a deal breaker; only a reminder that we're all human. Keep on the plan, track everything, and you'll soon see little successes. Best of luck!

elcee, Your experience with the band is very similar to mine. You said it way better than I ever could! Great advice for anyone still looking at the band!

    So many questions

I started taking vitamins during my six-month supervised diet since my dietitian wanted me to get used to taking them (but I think it was just the multi she had me taking, now that I think of it...), but most surgeons, regardless of the surgery, will have you stop taking vitamins and any non-prescription meds a week or two before surgery. I had to stop taking them before both of my plastic surgery procedures, too - evidently some can thin the blood too much, which can interfere with the surgery. as for your anxiety meds (or any other prescription med), ask your doctor.
