    4 days post op

Coming on to my fourth day post op after having sleeve surgery done on 2/18/20. Curious as to a few things. I’m not very hungry at all until I overthink it, I am a very tall large younger man and my suggested intake of protein just seems unrealistic. I have only been able to drink at tops 2 protein shakes for a total of 60 grams of protein. I’m doing my best to stay hydrated but I can’t only drink one ounce at a time, is that rule ok to be broken I feel like an ounce doesn’t even coat my mouth before swallowing. My incision sites have all been healing pretty well but the largest one the skin around it is turning black and blue as if it was bruised. Is that normal or did that happen to anyone else? My stomach feels sore especially in that one spot otherwise not too bad seems to be getting slightly better day by day. one final thing....when will I go the bathroom? I have a ton of gas but havnt had the call to go. thank you so much, amazing to find a community like this and be on this journey with you all. thank you, Michael

I second this. I used to buy into the organic, grass fed, all natural, no antibiotic stuff all the time. I came to realize that no matter what you do, you will slip up somewhere. GMOs are in EVERYTHING nowadays. Even organic stuff. So it's best to just eat healthy and not worry about finding the most "pure" ingredients. As far as the OPs original concern, I noticed that too. I can only speak from experience since I'm still on the liquid pre-op diet, that I had to experiment with a ton of different things before I found what worked for me. Currently, I drink Glucerna hunger smart. It keeps me satiated for several hours and sometimes I forget to even eat. Plus, its the most palatable of the protein drinks I've tried so far. It's always a good idea to make stuff from scratch because you know what goes in it and can avoid the extra sugars and fats. But in a pinch, protein drinks and other protein sources are helpful. But I wouldn't rely to heavily on it. Good luck 👍

hmmm....I wonder if there are sugars or something in there? Simple carbs make you hungrier faster.

Twins!! Surgery and pre-OP diet are the same as yours!! Excited but a little nervous! Don't want to be one of the ones with complications.

I actually prefer not to die

As I mentioned on another thread here, I'm going to sign a form to decline anesthesia. My holistic wiccan healer is giving me a potion of mineral water and a pinch of jasmine to help deal with any discomfort. I also have a special chant to drive away negative thoughts.

    Monk Fruit

I've tried the monk fruit granulated powder. I can't say it's my favorite, to me it does have an aftertaste, but it's tolerable. FYI, the agave sweetners are still high in fructose and carbs.
