***UGH I am so effing hungry!!

start tracking again to see where you're at. My dietitian doesn't like the fact I'm obsessed with numbers and wants me to try "intuitive eating", but sorry, that doesn't work for me. I "intuitively ate" up to over 300 lbs. I have to track to make sure I'm staying within my maintenance range. and yes - hunger comes roaring back after a few months, and our stomach capacities are bigger. Stalls become more frequent and last longer. Weight loss slows to a crawl. Continued weight loss becomes a real challenge. But it can still happen if you're committed. I kept losing until I was 20 months out. When I'm having a particularly "hungry day", I try to eat more healthy fat and/or fiber, as both are pretty filling (at least for me). And I really step up my fluid intake. But I know it's hard. Sometimes I have to get out of the house or put myself to bed early just so I'll quit thinking about my stomach. It's a challenge for sure...

    How do you psychologically deal?

I over prepared psychologically and the first 6 months were an a breeze. For me its been tough psychologically dealing with the end of the honeymoon period but being short of my goal but still very happy with the results. As you will see from this community everyone is so much happier post surgery and often you hear the biggest regret was not doing it sooner.

    Done and Done!

I feel like a million bucks. When I had my sleeve done 6 years ago I was in terrible ain, was very nauseous, and vomiting. Not this time! The changed the medications they used and thin time was great. I was admitted at 10:45 in the OP by 1pm. I was discharged less than 24 hours later.

Watch out for the almonds and protein bars.... the bars sometimes are loaded with sugar.

It's definitely an adjustment, but you can do this, you've got this.

    How do you psychologically deal?

All i can add is the Head games are tough!, but you have a choice 1. Stay fat and unhealthy and die early missing out on your kids and the future or Plow thru it deal with the head games and just stay focused - I decided to get healthy and live vs be burnt and put in a Urn Young - so whatever mental issues came at me after my crash i just stayed focused on that goal of getting healthy!

5wks post op, eating too much?

Don't chase the full feeling. This was a learning opp for you. The fullness in your chest is cuz of the pressure of your pouch and it may have backed up into your esophagus. Early out you CAN really injure yourself this way and bust a staple. Big time lean and big time Billy Bad Ass problem if you do that. Eat ONLY to your prescription and follow your doc's plan. If necessary ask the doc or RD HOW MUCH VOLUME you should be eating at one meal. Have 6-8 mini meals. At this time, I think I had 1/8c-1/4c volume limit? That is essentially a half to 1 egg.

    Progress!

It's such an exciting journey.. Doesn't it feel that much more 'real' once the meetings begin?? Personally, I am so excited for the journey to my new future self. I know it's going to be a BIG change, but I know it's going to be 100% worth it.

    Anxiety through the roof! Help!

Your anxiety is TOTALLY normal! I'm a mom, I get it. I was pretty terrified too. But I am now 10 months post op and have NO REGRETS! You will get through this! I want to piggy back on the person who said there is no safer place than an OR table. I agree. If your surgeon thought there was a reason why you might not make it, and that the risk was greater than having a successful outcome, they wouldn't let you have surgery. I know you are scared...but do it anyway. Conquer the fear! You're going to learn so much about yourself and your capabilities after this surgery. It's as much a self love adventure as it is a weight loss one!

    reasons for insurance to deny?

Don't worry! I am fortunate my insurance turned around the approval within 3-4 days, but those 4 days were scary and nerve-wracking. And for no reason. Insurances I think are getting the hint that it's better to pay for this surgery than to pay for years of prescriptions and doctor visits, etc.
