    gastric bypass side effects

Well hello out there I’m new at this....so please be patient with me. I’ve been approved for my GB. January 22 2020. I’m really excited it’s been a long journey over 2 years. When I first decided to go this route I did not realize it’s more then just losing weight. It is a complete spiritual transformation and I did not understand that until very recently. I had so much mental baggage and it wasn’t until I seemed professional help and sifted through some childhood and early adulthood stuff. Well I finally gained some stability and forgave, let go, started back my relationship with God my Farther and I’ve hit the ground running. I’m a new creature. My family is on board and I’m ready. I don’t know why today or now I’m just hoping this helps someone. Pray for me!

My OB/GYN thinks that I have had PCOS since I was a teen/puberty. I have 4 children. This isn't me trying to boast. I'm currently on Mirena. All of the times I got pregnant I was on the mini pill. Progestin-only no other hormone. I've only conceived between these weights. 230lb to 270lb. I'm not sure how uncommon it is for that to balance someone out. During blood work, Progesterone and Vitamin D are the only levels that ever showed up alarmingly low for me. So my OB/GYN recommended Mirena instead to make sure I don't have an accidental pregnancy or trouble with continuous bleeding and sporadic periods. I feel slightly embarrassed and erroneous saying I'm technically infertile. Without the mini pill, I likely wouldn't have been able to have children. I wonder if seeing an endocrinologist specifically for fertility-related reasons would help just to raise whatever is low. I was also on 500mg of Metformin with my last baby so that may have also been at work with the progestin. I hope I'm not being offensive to you or your OB/GYN. Maybe I was just a rare case that isn't similar to most PCOS hormone imbalances. So this wouldn't be helpful at all. I just thought it might be worth a shot later on. I'm only done with the first stage of my insurance for Weight Loss Surgery. I don't have a surgery date yet. I was just told by the weight loss clinic that my file was processing this last week and I'd hear back in 2-6 weeks. I hope everything goes well for you and the weight loss is enough to right everything naturally and that you find something to prevent it in the meantime if that's what you are trying to do. ❤️

    Aversion to smells

I had my bypass 6 days ago and a surprise hernia repair. I’m healing nicely but have some constant low-level nausea. Now things like scented candles, my shampoo, dryer sheets, etc. are bothering me. I also get these phantom smells - where’s that cinnamon coming from?? It’s weird! Anyone relate?

Well thankfully that's extremely rare and you're more likely to die from obesity than on the operating table. That's great that you have a good support system - everyone going in to this needs that.

    gastric bypass side effects

Complications - I had a leak when I had my gastric sleeve and was in hospital for 3 months. Had several surgeries to put in a stent (didn't work at first - had to have one stitched in place. That one ended up slipping and so had to have it restitched). My whole sleeve was a total flop, so I had the bypass. Yes, there can be complications, but despite them I went back and tried again. The main thing that I wish people knew when having complications is to make sure they have the support of family around them should everything go t i t s up. I had to fly my mum in from the UK to look after my autistic daughter. I knew there was a chance of complications, but I had absolutely zero idea of how that might impact my, my husbands, my daughter's and my mum's life. So... my advice to everyone getting surgery is to make sure you have a good support system in place should the worst happen. THAT is what I wish the surgeons office would emphasize when we sign all of those release forms.

Well other than the diarrhea, and the gallstones I was warned about hair loss as well. But really I'm just wondering if there's anything that you wish someone had warned you about before hand. I want to make sure that I'm as prepared as I can be lol
