    Stop the gain!

I've gained 23 lbs of an over 200 lb loss. Would like to lose 10 lbs as I felt best at that weight. I'm just going back to basics - not all the way back to liquids and purees, but the "protein first - then veggies - then if there's room, a small serving of fruit or healthy carbs (e.g., whole grain thing))". I've also stepped up my exercise - 4-5 days a week. I've always logged my food, so I'll continue to do that. The issue is I've let too many calories and not-the-greatest-food-choices back into my life, and I'd slacked off on exercise the last few months. I don't know how successful I'll be with this, but this is how a lot of other vets have tackled it. other methods I've heard that vets have had success with are Weight Watchers, Intermittent Fasting, and Keto - so any of those could be worth a try, too.

    Surgery tomorrow

Hi New Friends my surgery is tomorrow. New year and new me. I have to drink the magnesium citrate and am having trouble getting thru it. It’s so sweet. Anyway, I’m so nervous. How many days after surgery did you feel a little better? I’ve heard a lot of people have nausea and they I’m worried about that.

Yes, I initially looked for that type of surgery. In my early 50’s, I became extremely morbidly obese as a result of prednisone & steroid epidural block injections and decided on GB instead. It has made a difference but I use miralax every night to have movement. I really hope it helps your wife, too!

Foods to avoid to improve scar healing?

Yep that’s it. Just sold under Bio Oil. In Aust you can buy it from supermarkets & pharmacies. It’s quite reasonably priced & lasts for ages. Just wait until the wounds are healed. Even will improve older scars. Good luck.

    Pre-Surgery Lactose Intolerant

I have used a ton of vegan protein drinks, and they are mostly all fine. I make the shakes in a shaker bottle, with ice. My goal is to drink, and I try not to focus on it too much. The protein shakes include the following (all purchased from Amazon.com): Evolve protein shakes (vanilla and mellow mocha) Vegansmart Plant-based Vegan Protein Powder by Naturade (wild berries) TOPBiT All-in-One Plant Protein Powder, Chocolate – Vegan Protein Powder, Sugar Free Protein, Stevia Free, Nut Free, Soy Free, 20g Protein Shake, Probiotics, BCAA, Greens, 1.8LB TOPBiT All-in-One Plant Protein Powder, Vanilla – Vegan Protein Powder, Sugar Free Protein, Stevia Free, Nut Free, Soy Free, 20g Protein Shake, Probiotics, BCAA, Greens, 1.8LB Naturade Plant Based Vegansmart Vegan Pea Protein – Chocolate – 20.6 oz Orgain Organic Plant Based Protein Powder, Creamy Chocolate Fudge - Vegan, Low Net Carbs, Non Dairy, Gluten Free, Lactose Free, No Sugar Added, Soy Free, Kosher, Non-GMO, 2.03 Pound I *did not like* this unflavored protein: Nature's Best Plant Based Vegan Protein Powder by Isopure - Organic Keto Friendly, Low Carb, Gluten Free, 20g Protein, 0g Sugar, Unflavored, 1.15 Pound (20 Servings). It’s a wee bit nasty.

    Questions!

I too was approved and I’m not 100 lbs or more overweight ... I would say I’m 70 or 80 lbs overweight but I have a tiny frame .. I’m 5 feet tall. I have knee and back problems and my mom died at 60 from heart disease .. she was also diabetic and had kidney disease. I was diagnosed as pre diabetic so I had better smarten up while I still have the chance. You can also check out Mexico as an option . I’m having mine done in puerto Vallarta on feb 4th. I’ll let you know how it was when I get back home. I’ve had work done in Mexico before. I had an arm lift ( and it’s amazing how much more confidence I have just with having that done! I never wore a tank top before then.). I also had my teeth done there. Both the hospital and the dental office was as clean and immaculate as any place Canada has to offer! Anyways, I hope you get approved and are able to get coverage .. I didn’t even try to do it through Canada because I didn’t think I would be approved and also I am very compulsive Once I made my mind up that I wanted to do this, I would had it done that week if I could have :). To do it in Canada, there is a waiting list and I don’t want to be like this for any longer than I have to. Please post updates as I’m rooting for you!

    Thank you all

Hi all As you can see, I am a brand new user on this forum. However I have been lurking for awhile. I want to use my first post to share how grateful I am for your candidness and how truly impressed I am with your courage sharing intimate details of your personal journeys. I have learned so much from you all, not just about the basics of WLS etc, but about inspiration, motivation, determination, and compassion towards ourselves and others. If ever I’ve needed a pick me up or some words of encouragement, I have found it here. Thank you all and I look forward to becoming an active member of this community!

My wife noticed that it hangs again. She said will have to dust with Lemon Pledge with the rest of the furniture. I'm a nudist. Friend call before they come over to tell me to put on some clothes. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using BariatricPal mobile app

    Seeing my pecker again!

Well, I wasn't going to start a thread like this, but I will admit that is one of the pleasant side effects of surgery. In addition, the fat around the pubic area disappears, making everything look larger than it did before. 🤫

    Back to normal life?

You can expect every aspect of your life to change. You will find a new normal. The old normal wasn't working so well, was it? Your new life will be so much better. Pre op is not easy, but it is only a small blip on the radar. Post op is not easy, but again, a small blip in the journey that will be the rest of your life. Preop is hard, also, because of the unknown. It is normal to be scared and anxious, but all of us on this side can tell you to jump into the pool - the water is fine and you won't drown. This is a good support group that will help you through. Highly advise you to get on YouTube and start watching everything that has to do with weight loss surgery. You will get a ton of information that will make you better educated and realistic about what to expect in each step. Personally, I really liked Dr. Matthew Weiner. He does a good job of explaining the procedures, the diet stages (although it may differ from your own surgeon's), the recovery, different challenges in the process, and how to maintain.
