    Help

yes - that seems like a lot to lose in one year. Did they possibly mean your ULTIMATE goal rather than your one-year goal? If the latter, that is pretty ambitious. I was 316 the morning of surgery and 190 at my one-year appt. My surgeon was ELATED....

    Can't see it

I mean, not to be crass, but I see the pics on your profile and I see it! You look great! Might be body dysmorphia issues. I personally have the other issue - I see what I've lost and think I look great and don't see how I can lose another 70 pounds!

    First Appointment

I have my first appointment on January 2nd with a surgeon. My doctor recommended this last February but because of insurance I have had to wait. My questions is how did you decide between the sleeve or bypass? The doctors office told me the doctor will make a recommendation but its really up to the patient. Also what questions should I ask that you wish you would have asked at your first appointment?

For people who are post op, what activities or things do you do to cope during stressful times, boredom, moments of wanting to snack, etc? In other words, what are your coping mechanisms that you use now since you can no longer turn to food? Someone said they learned to knit. I've heard others say they journal, turn to something physical like taking a walk. Thanks in advance

    ❄DEC 2019 CHALLENGE❄

I had redi whip on my decaf for dessert. Bucket list is something that changes a lot for me. I really like the guided meditation on the Calm app. I do that about 4 days a week.

Not Running to Food for Coping

I did jigsaw puzzles for awhile and need to do that again. Or something! I need to work on this as well.

Not Running to Food for Coping

Rarely even think about food anymore. but I do keep busy all day when home ive got Netflix or my Xbox one or my Ps4 or you can easily go for a walk around town. Goto a museum or library or botanical gardens.

    ❄DEC 2019 CHALLENGE❄

    3. So I ate some Peppermint Bark and I did Triangle, Warrior, Downward Dog, High Lunge, and Forward Fold as part of my routine last night. 4. Not sure what's on my bucket list right now. I do try to take care of them as opportunities arise...like when I went to Wyoming this past Summer. I will do some more yoga tonight...maybe add leg up, malasana, and cobbler. I have to create a 50 minute class for this weekend.

I told myself that for years (that I can do it on my own with diet and exercise). Every time, I'd lose 40-50-60 lbs just to gain it back - and start the cycle over again. This went on for decades. I finally realized that no, I couldn't do it on my own. I'd tried and tried and it just didn't work. So I finally went through with the surgery. I've lost over 200 lbs and have been maintaining ever since. No way could I have done this on my own. I'd have this surgery again in a heartbeat!

    OCC patients; seeking input

I’m a RN as well and visitation hours are a thing of the past. It’s outdated and just raises red flag that support person isn’t allowed. I was also informed that some patient rooms are semi-private. This is a red flag to me. I asked what the RN to patient ratio was and I did not get an answer. Do you know from your experience? Are there doctors in clinic at night? Should a patient code what is the response team composed of? If patient needs ICU care is that care provided in facility or is patient transferred? If transferred to what hospital? 0700 discharge day 1 post-op; did physician round and do head to toe exam? Do you mind sharing info? Thank you!!
