So I've really been struggling with staying positive lately. I know this may sound juvenile, but I feel like I'm losing my friends! It seems like in the beginning when I first decided to go through with this, the support and encouragement were overwhelming. But now that I'm so close to surgery, it appears people's attitudes have drastically shifted. I've pretty much lost all my fellow heavy friends, thinking I've somehow "abandoned" them just because my eating habits have changed and I'm going through this. My lighter friends are just weirded out by the whole process and can't believe I'm actually serious about going through this. Both groups have stated that WLS changes peoples personalities because they can't eat for pleasure anymore, they "become eternally cranky and mean," and my friends all claim I'm "too nice to go through this." These things are very hurtful to me, especially since I've known so many of my friends for years and years. Then I get scared and think...what if they're right? Will I become that person? Anyways, I'm not feeling very happy lately. I need to stay positive, but dealing with all this has been hard as hell.

Yeah, MGH is one of the top hospitals. I was very surprised they weren’t being more helpful.

    post VSG CO2 gas pain

The gas was horrific for a couple of days. Burping and heaving mostly. The best thing to ease it was simply walking about and sleeping with head and shoulders raised, could not sleep on side due to acid and heartburn. You'll get thru it it's worth it Sent from my moto g(7) play using BariatricPal mobile app

    5 days post op

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I had my sleeve surgery on Monday 11/25 and it went well. I had a lot of pain after but day by day it is getting better. I have been staying well hydrated with water and sugar free pops., but haven’t been able to get much else down except a sip here or there. My question is how long until you have a bowel movement? On the 2 week liquid diet before I was still going, but nothing since the Saturday before surgery and I am wondering if this is normal? Thanks for the help/feedback.

    Weight Loss Stall

Mine started in week 3 and lasted for 2 weeks. It was concerning then but it is coming off regularly now. Just stick to the plan. It will come off.

Awesome! The longer you can keep this mindset during the WLM, the better in my honest opinion. I didn't want to dink around with the scenic tour of weight loss. Been there, done that, never got to goal that way.

    Switching to soft foods

Yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken, fish, shrimp, avocado, deli meat, cheese, eggs, and soups. Beef was on the list however, unless its cooked for a long time like in a stew, I cannot get it chewed to the consistency that is required. So I stay away from beef. Chicken and tuna are my go to. Just remember chew, chew, chew.
