I feel like I have mono- 3 weeks PO

You have "Keto flu" most people dont realize but the weeks after surgery are the same as someone who does keto in that since you cut out the carbs and sugar your body switches to fat burning. the transition is different for everyone but the "keto flu" is a common reaction. it does pass as you Fat Adapt and your body moves to using all those millions of fat cells for energy. Hang tough and watch that fat melt away as your body becomes a true Fat powerhouse. After i reached the Fat Adapted stage i had so much energy it was scary. I couldnt sit down, i was always pacing and felt i needed to keep moving and doing something anything.

    Anxiety

Hi Everyone, I’m scheduled to undergo the gastric sleeve surgery next Monday, December 2nd. I’m anxious and scared about this life changing decision but I’m also excited about the journey ahead. I’m on day 4 of my 11 day pre-surgery diet and the Protein Shakes are gagging me. I’m limited to using shakes from Bariatric Advantage and Bariatric Fusion. Any tips on how to make them taste better? I’ve tried using extracts and drink mixes. I’m also hoping for some encouraging words for this surgery. I hope I’m making the right decision. I have this fear that I’ll feel nauseous for the rest of my life and I won’t be able to enjoy food ever again.

Try freezing shakes. I open carton top and eat it slowly with spoon... It makes them more palatable.

    Switching to soft foods

I remember eating a lot of Greek yogurt and hummus. And refried beans.

I'm cooking the full meal but substituting low carb sides and no dessert. Well all low carb but 1 side. Hubby begged for mashed potatoes. [emoji849]

Bunch of us can be January Twins. I am looking at January also. Met surgeon and I love her. Had one nutritional meeting and the next is next week. It is required that I lose 8 pounds before surgery but I have already done that. Using Baritastfic and staying under 2500 cal per day. Trying to keep carbs under 50 and protein around 80 but don't always make that. It is a little hard trying to do all three. I am 66 years old and have lost and gained weight since high school. Lost 50-100 pounds 3 or 4 times in my life. I just can't seem to KEEP it off. I get all kind of into a new project and then get depressed and start eating again. Hoping WLS will make the intervention I need. A few big factors inmate deciding to do this are, serious arthritis in my lower back has caused a lot of pain lately and then I find out my sister had RNY a year ago, A niece did 3 years ago and a friends daughter did 3 years ago. When I found out all of these people were doing successfully on top of the pain I was experiencing, I decided to go forth and 'check' it out during the pre op steps. Wasn't long into the step that I am full on go. Git er done!
