Ok people just left hospital after 7 days!!
LAPROSCOPIC ROUX EN Y BYPASS
So I'll see how good my memory is..
I got to hospital Monday 10-28 at 10am waited a few hours to see surgeon had low blood sugar so had to wait longer finally got in around 3pm.
Woke up around 6pm so bloody sore like you have no idea.. My stomach was so big and tight and holes in my belly plus the drain..
Was on IV from day one with fluids and then had fentanyl pumped into me every few hours to keep the pain down..
First 24hrs slept off and on so much every time I woke I was sore got more drugs to help me sleep so was pretty out of it for the first 48hrs..
I'm not sure if it was normal or I'm a sook lol..
After 3 days finally got the drain line out and had shower and felt much better but still pretty sore getting in and out of bed..
Blood tests and blood pressure and sugar check every few hours the first few days.. Wouldn't let me sleep much lol
Started walking the halls after I think day 4 and on fluids everyday just broth and water and optifast nothing else..
The hospital staff were so nice and accommodating though every time i needed I pressed the button they were there..
Was still a little sore and bloated for the first 4 days but started going number 2 by then and farting more to let out the gas and air..
But everything is just liquids still so haven't felt anything going In or out except a few pills I take or if I drink too quickly... Gotta learn to slow down
Been on chewable multivitamin since few days and been drinking plenty of water so that's been good and having my shakes but only half size shakes now..
Um I'm trying to think of anything else to help others going for surgery..
MY SURGEON chooses to make pouch a little bigger than regular which he says much easier to adjust and get used to not so restricted but still enough to make an impact
Been feeling good last couple of days but still a little tired here and there just gotta keep water up and protein up don't feel worried if drinking too much Your body needs it to recover and heal
I'm finally on my way home miss my own bed and feeling hopeful for the future definitely!!!!!
thank you everyone!!!!
I’ve been doing this same thing. Caffeine was the hardest. But now the canine headaches are gone and I’m just down to my occasional fun sized piece of candy which is gone next Monday. That’s my drop dead day. Pre op liquid diet starts the 12th and I say goodbye to old eating thoughts and Bad foods forever. I’m very all or none and if I tell myself eating it will make me dump I’ll avoid it. I hate being sick that much.
I’m researching SIPS vs DS and I’m so confused on the correct choice! SIPS seems easier to live with less side effects possibly and an up and coming surgery while DS has been around longer and has more follow up data. My surgeons office only does SIPS and truly has not done that many of them so I’ll probably switch surgeons as well.
My story is that I had a nightmare band experience in 2011, didn’t lose much at all and regained all as well as port discomfort etc until being revised in 2017 to sleeve. I did amazing on sleeve for 2 years lost almost all my weight (112lbs) but regained about half. I’m desperate to find the right surgery and so afraid I will make another mistake!
I know I need a more powerful surgery than the sleeve and yes I’m doing the “head work” in therapy. Any advise on which I should choose or how I should make the decision?
👏 STAY 👏 ON 👏 TOP 👏 OF 👏 THEM 👏
Keep track of everything, request written/email copies, calls be recorded, representatives names & ID numbers etc., call Everyday if you need to since its obvious they can't get there own **** together.
GOOD LUCK 💙
This is a useful thread. I will be riding a train to get to the hospital and back and would like to lug as little as possible. I'm supposed to stay two nights in the hospital and am thinking of staying a third in a hotel before going home--I don't want to be 5 hours away and have something develop.
What did most of you wear in the hospital after your surgery? If you are supposed to get up and walk a lot I'd think you wouldn't want to stay in a hospital gown very long...no one wants to see my a$$ as I'm walking down the hall...😄
sorrynametaken, you posted as I was typing. Pajama bottoms sound great! I'm a "commando girl" and don't even own any underwear so pjs would work well.
