    🍂 Nov 2019 Challenge🍂

Day 1 1. Posting your personal goal Goal is to continue to stay focused on my journey and not get derailed on what I'm able to eat or drink. A deep seated goal is to make it to the mid to low 170s in weight. 2. Add your surgery type, status (pre/post op, losing/maintenance) Post sleeve 8/16/19 3. Weight and BMI (not necessary but encouraged) SW: 214lbs CW: 179.8lbs BMI: 31.9 4. Tell us what you are grateful according to the day: I am so grateful for life, love and laughter!! A bit cliche I know! But I've survived without a much needed nanny for a few weeks now and finally interviewed someone I pray works out. My husband and kids stepped up and we made it work through laughter and love!! Very very grateful for that!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Day 2: Technology- humm... I have a bit of love/hate with most of it. I guess I would have to pick my phone, just because it makes so many things easier throughout my day. (Logging food, getting directions and keeping up with the Fam etc.)

    🍂 Nov 2019 Challenge🍂

Day 2. Welp. I went out to dinner and my salad had fresh hot deep fried croutons on it. I ate half of them and it was the best thing I’ve tasted in 16 months. I avoid all deep fried things but I could not turn down that surprise. My goal this month is to continue maintaining. Technology. I really like Waze and navigation technology, I’m old enough to remember getting very lost.

Hi welcome! Genetics is a humbling ***** I wanted start by saying IMHO Intelligence level and metabolic (or any favorable) genetics are not necessarily correlated. E.G. Stephen Hawkings. (Also IMHO more likely in our current societal structure intelligence and environmental factors have a stronger correlation -such as food scarcity/deserts and access to nutrition education- but the jury is still out...) I, likewise, hold a Master's but will put it in a folder to collect dust when it comes time to talk about my health. Family history, lifestyle, exercise, etc. those things mean more to the physcians. Unfortunately those people never truly understand so you will likely be wasting your breath. Unless these people are the gatekeepers in your process or highly HIGHLY important in your life, do you really owe them a presentation? A lot of Doctors call this a set point, YouTube bariatric surgeon Dr. Weiner. He talks about this often This surgery does not ONLY alter the physical digestive pathways but also metabolic changes occur. Best to attend a few seminars, talk it through with a Surgeon you trust and research on your own while you decide. There is A LOT of research out there, mostly medical journals easily found on Google Scholar or through other portals using your Uni's Alumni House access codes 😉 Good Luck 💙

    Alcohol

I had my first drinks over 8 months out at a wedding. It didn't take much and it hit me rather fast. Eating something took it all away. But having another drink brought it all back full force. Then I ate something else and it was gone. It was a strange experience for me. I didn't have any hang over the next day or anything. I had about 4 drinks over the course of the evening. I was never really a drinker, I would drink maybe once every 5 years or at some social event that I was uncomfortable at because of my size and needed liquid courage to get through the event. I don't think I will have transfer addiction because of it and I don't crave another drink. Everything in moderation.

    Water information needed

I hate water and it is my most difficult challenge, Do not go ape **** crazy measuring oz's Sip it and do what you can I am a big guy and a Nutritionist told me to shoot for 48 - Also remember eat moist foods, easy to swallow and digest and they have water. For example I brine chicken first so it is loaded with water. One thing that saves me is pop sickles - The ones in the plastic tubes off amazon. I make them and flavor them and at electrolytes. I feel for you - Water is a pain in the ass for some people

My weight loss tends to slow with periods of stall and then loss but it seems to average out ok. I have metabolic disorders, adult onset congenital adrenal hyperplasia, pcos, endometriosis and other medical conditions that effect my metabolism. i am 44 my height is 5’ and my starting BMI was 40 (around 208lb) I had surgery April 29th 2019 and as of today my weight loss is about 62lbs according to my home scale. Rate of loss depends on medical conditions, starting weight, and other factors. Because my metabolism barely functions and I have glucose intolerance my daily calories tends to be low and I don’t consume more than 50-60 grams of protein per day since protein that isn’t utilized converts to glucose. I also cannot exercise due to chronic illness and disability. My nutritionist thinks my rate of loss is going good. So I trust her judgement. I weigh myself daily and track my calories and protein daily as well to try to determine if a certain food is causing stall more than another. Or if I am meeting my needs. As well as to note any issues that come up with foods I’m eating our how I feel (symptoms) I don’t use a special app. I just have a notepad on my tablet. Considering you just had your surgery only October 1st and lost 28lbs you are doing great.
