So yesterday was my first initial consult with the surgeon, Dr. Amit Taggar with Florida Surgical Weight Loss Center. I'm currently 5'5, 256 with high cholesterol. I am so ready to have this surgery so that I can stop the medication train before it gets too outta hand. I was planning on a late January to early February surgery due to Aetna only required 3 months with a Nutritionist. Boy was I in for a surprise. My surgeon informed me that Aetna now requires 6 months supervised visits with the Nutritionist and that the plan changed this month. WTH?!!?! Oh well.. I can see this is going to be the longest 6 months of my life. During this time, I will focus on losing weight and exchanging bad eating habits for good ones. Thanks for reading

    One week to go

My surgery is next Monday, 10/28. I'm on the two week pre-op diet, 9 lbs down. It's not easy, sometimes you get tired, and when you are surrounded by food, it can be very difficult. Only twice was a really "surrounded" by it. At home, when my husband and son eat, it's not bad. Getting excited but also nervous and scared. It's been a long time coming (I thought about it for years, was about to start the process in early 2018, but another health issue was taken care of first). Once the process started, though, while it seemed to drag, it's also been rather quick. Having all the feels....

Hi @Panda333, at this stage just try to get in what you can. You are doing great! No need to eat more beyond the full feeling. Your menu macros is more or less similar to mine at the same time in my progresssion (it was my last day of full liquids). For comparison, here was my menu at 3 weeks post op:

    Struggling with Water and Protein

Yes I forced myself to drink. You can mix fairlife milk with the protein shake to make it less sweet tasting. I would give myself a goal like drinking 6 oz in 45 minutes. so i set a timer and played a game on my phone or watched TV and made myself drink a sip or a shot glass full of the shake every 5 minutes. Mentally i needed that distraction. It was harder for me to drink in the mornings initially so i kept a themos of cold water on my nightstand and if i woke up during the night i would at least get a few sips in during the night. I was allowed to eat creamed soups (not potato but celery, mushroom, chicken but had to strain out the pieces the first week. I had unflavored protein powder (Unjury brand) that i would add to the soup to increase the protein, if you don't have that you could add some fairlife milk to it. Some people said water tasted bad so i bought a few different brands in case one seemed to be better. it didnt matter for me. I also had sugar free Mio and crystal light i added to water. Sugar free Popsicle were good, That forces you to eat the whole Popsicle before it melts and that increased my fluids.

I think it is ridiculous that if you need to have a revision to a bariatric procedure from a failed initial one that you have to wait to regain all your weight before you can get another! If you met the criteria for the first procedure and had surgery and now need another the insurance company should be satified that the patient is still a candidate. Most of us had our first surgery because of health considerations and to expect us to regain all that weight to have the revision surgery is unhealthy and a waste (waist!) of time. I have to have a lap band removed and fortunately (or unfortunately) I have already regained enough weight and have two new comorbidities so I don't have to gain even more to get my revision.
