Hey everyone. Thank you for the words of encouragement! Surgery went well. Hooked up to a morphine drip. The Dr. Also fixed 3 hernias I had! I only knew of the small one in my belly button, not the other two. Still in the hospital room overnight, SOP. They gave me an ounce of jello and it completely filled me up. Fast food on TV MADE ME SICK TO MY STOMACH!! Nausea is so real right now. The stichtes are glue closures. Great insurance no money out of pocket. 2 hours before my surgery the first person of the day canceled since they ate before the surgery so my surgery was at 6am not8. Fast food cravings are gone!

    FINALLY on the losers bench!

Surgery was earlier today. The pain was somewhat intense after waking up, but it’s being well managed now! I just went for my first walk around the unit and let out some burps. No gas is coming out the other end yet. Keeping ice chips down, and not sure when I’ll move to medicine cups of water but hopefully soon!

Revision from Gastric Sleeve to. ?

I’m supposed to be having my sleeve revised to a bypass in November due to GERD. I have a hiatial hernia for the 3rd time and the surgeon as well as the 2nd opinion surgeon says not to repair the hernia, just revise to bypass. Evidently my cough is acid aspirating into my lungs, and most of my allergy symptoms are from the acid. This is on top of the regular nasty acid symptoms. I had originally asked for the bypass because I already had GERD and I knew that VSG could make GERD worse or cause it if you don’t have it. The surgeon said that if I had another 100# to lose he’d recommend the bypass but he said I probably have a hernia. He’d fix it, therefore fixing the GERD. So, 3 hernias later, I’m revising to a bypass, and I’m terrified. I’ve been very pleased with my sleeve except for the GERD getting worse. So... 3.5 years later I’m finally getting what I originally asked for, but now I have to go through a 3rd surgery (VSG/hernia; hernia again; now bypass) to do it. I should have just pushed for the bypass at the beginning and I’d be done with it.

Wow! It sounds like you have had some real personal growth over the last several months of this journey. I'd love to see you congratulate yourself for all that hard work. ❤️ None of it is easy but the mental toughness it takes to get through is by far more difficult than the physical. You are on the right track!

I am so proud of you on so many levels. You were able to identify the sources of negativity, address them, face them, and advocate for yourself! Hurray for you!!!! I have no doubt that you will be totally successful with your weight loss after having surgery. I did not lose but a few pounds in my 6 month pre-op period. But I have been hugely successful after surgery. I don't think your doctor can accurately predict how every individual's body will respond to surgery. I can tell that you are determined to make this work, and that is what it takes. When you think of it, it's kind of silly and unrealistic to think that someone who has wrecked their metabolism by dieting, and who needs WLS as a last resort, will be able to take off loads of weight before surgery. If we could have done it, we would have already, right? Please don't let that idea rattle your confidence. If anything, let it make you more determined than ever to prove him wrong. Your coworkers are being just plain selfish. Period. You take care of yourself right now, OK? Please keep us posted about your journey!

    Question

I love Isopure protein drink, although you drink it as is and don't mix it with anything. It's basically already the consistency of water. My favorite is grape frost. You can check it out on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Isopure-Plus-Carb-Protein-Drink/dp/B002RWYOP6/ref=sr_1_9?crid=6X6DUEKC95N5&keywords=isopure+zero+carb&qid=1570267165&s=hpc&sprefix=isop%2Chpc%2C432&sr=1-9
