    Stopping Omeprazole-

Another alternative to cutting back to half dose (if that doesn't work) is to cut the dose or frequency, and substitute an H2 inhibitor such as Zantac (ranitidine) or Pepcid, which are a different class of drug without the same long term side effect concerns as the PPI's, but also somewhat less effective or enduring. But they work well in cutting back the PPI therapy. If one is taking omeprazole twice a day, substitute one of those doses with Zantac, or take a half dose of omeprazole in the morning and a dose of Zantac in the evening. Then try going to all zantac after a couple of weeks, etc.

I wish I'd known about stalls. I wasn't expecting them and they're depressing but normal.

    Stopping Omeprazole-

Don't ask me why but my (Belgian) doc put me on Omeprazole for life. I had a MGB which has a slightly higher risk of bile reflux.

    Cravings? HELP

You have chosen a new, healthy life. You need to embrace the healthy, good foods you can eat. Enjoy them, love them! Look at the old foods as enemies, not friends. Remember where they got you. You will have a burger again, just not now (and probably not with the bun.) You will have a piece of pizza again - just not now. Give up the sugar for good. No more cake or ice cream. It's just not worth it. Period. 5 minutes of pleasure and then hours of discomfort and guilt. Just not worth it. This is hard work. It's called CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and you have to start building new thought patterns and neuro pathways to re-wire your brain into finding pleasure in the healthy, wonderful foods instead of the foods that have nearly destroyed your life.

a 30-40 lb weight loss the first month is the exception with "normal" WLS people. That's more common among people on shows like "My 600 lb Life", who start at way higher BMIs than most of us do.. I've been hanging out on this and other bariatric surgery boards for at least five years, and I would say the average loss for the first month is in the 15-25 lb range. I lost 16 lbs the first month, and I started out at over 300 lbs. So I'm not sure where you've been reading that, but even though it happens occasionally with us more "normal" WLS folks, it is definitely the exception.

    Vitamins

Without knowing if I like the vitamins or if they are too large for me to take, I think spending that much on a year's supply is out of the question.

I wish I had known how real the struggle would be with constipation... lol TMI maybe, but I'm sure most people who have had the surgery would agree. I was someone who NEVER had issues pre-surgery, so I was surprised when I had to start using products to go. It makes sense, but it wasn't on the list of things I talked about with my surgeon pre-op haha.
