    Partner Support

Offer to go to education classes with her and if her surgeon has support group meetings, offer to go along. The other big thing is to keep any junk food that you may eat (chips, cookies, ice cream, etc) out of the house. The very best thing would be to start eating the healthy foods that she will have to eat. So as she advances her diet over several months, you can be eating the same healthy proteins, veggies, low carbs, etc. Of course, you will not be drinking protein shakes or eating broth for weeks like she will, but being willing to eat her healthy diet down the road will save on shopping, meal planning, food prep, and will avoid a lot of temptation for her.(And be healthier for you, too.) I would give my eye teeth for a spouse who would embrace healthy eating habits.... and maybe even learn to prepare some of those foods!!!!! Let me tell you, it is not a happy feeling when I prepare a really nice healthy meal - like Asian lettuce wraps or eggplant parmesan and hubby takes two bites and then goes to fix himself a peanut butter/jelly sandwich.

I love things like: Green Soup (2-3oz of shrimp cooked in bone broth with any kind of chopped greens and frozen onion, pepper, celery blend -- then I spice it however I feel like it. I also love salads cuz I can eat more at a meal and I focus on 2-3oz of dense protein (salmon, tuna, sardines, shrimp, Boar's Head lunchmeat turkey or chicken. or lite liverwurst to get more iron in) and use Walden Farms or Triple Zero dressings. Then I add healthy fats with controlled amounts of avocado, olives, reduced fat cheese, pumpkin or sunflower seeds. I can get a ton protein and nutrients for around 100 cals. I also love fish, shrimp, and all seafood cuz it's a lot of protein per ounce (or can be) and very low in cals. Also green smoothies with protein powder, frozen spinach, frozen blueberries (1oz), peanut butter powder and cashew milk is very dense. I also add whole pysllium husks for more fiber and a shake that sticks to your ribs!

    Protein

I can't reach my protein goals without at least one shake and I'm over a year post surgery. Glad my Dr is ok with it.

    Protein

I do at least one protein shake a day. 1 cp of soy milk, 5 tblsp of low-fat cottage cheese, 5 tblsp 0 fat Greek Yogurt, 1 scoop of protien powder. Adds up to approx 45 grams of protien. About 350 calories.

    Protein

If you add protein powder to hot foods, let them cool a bit first. Adding the protein to super-hot liquids will make it clump.

    No restriction?

Make sure it is all protein. A full egg is 7 grams of protein and only one ounce in volume. Log your food so that you are getting enough protein. I also ate refried beans at that stage. It's high in protein. Greek yogurt too. Add unflavored protein powder to all your meals including eggs before you cook them. It will help keep hunger away.

    Very first puree meal, question

I are cream of wheat as my first food. I either ate too fast or it was too thick. I thought we were going to have to call the ambulance 🚑🚑 because I was having stomach spasms. It hilarious to think back now lol My first food was traumatizing for me.
