The shift of emotions is real

My surgeon warned me that I could feel a little depressed after surgery . Well... I’m not feeling necessarily depressed but so frustrated with everyone around me. My patience is at an all time low. I rarely fight with those at home. Typically glass 1/2 full type of girl. My grandchildren moved out 1 year ago so it’s just the 4 adults left here at home. I’m the one who has for the last 10 years been the “mommy” to all of us. I run the day to day “operations “, do all the cooking shopping etc. I’m the matriarch of my family . In general I do feel frustrated with the others on a regular but yesterday I kind of blew up... 1st yelling at them.... then crying. Holy moley !!! THATS NOT TYPICAL. Honestly I was a little justified because I wasn’t getting some of the help I needed but my delivery was definitely out of character! So yes.... we can have have some emotional upheavals . The temporary hormone changes are real!! On a positive.... today I’m one week out from sleeve & down 9 lbs. I’m getting better every day at taking all my meds. For a few days that was rough. I’m getting in my protein & my fluids. Thank you all for listening!!! 👍👍👍

@robynt201 I agree with FluffyChix above. Weighing yourself daily and monitoring what you've eaten to avoid regain are good things. BUT, if you're as obsessed as you imply and have crossed the line into purging, you've traded one eating disorder for another. Make an appointment with a doctor, consider counseling.

I will be 2 yrs out VSG this coming October. I’m down from 311 to 141 past my goal if 150. I’m obsessed with not gaining weight back. Still weighing myself daily and to the point that I will force myself to vomit if I think I’ve eaten something “bad”. Anyone relate?

That definitely sounds like an eating disorder. I think you should see a counsellor

yes. I lost pretty rapidly the first six months or so, then it slowed down quite a bit. Once I was a year out, it REALLY slowed down - like to maybe 2 lbs a month.

Hello! I hope everyone's doing well! So I've been trying to set some goals for myself (weight wise) and I'm unsure on how to predict weight loss in the future. Will weight loss start to slow down the more you lose it? Logic is telling me yes but for me it hasn't so far so i'm thinking that that might not be the case. I've been losing pretty much the exact amount of weight every month for 4 months now. (I had surgery about 5 months ago) Even though I've dropped so much weight I'm still losing the same amount every month. So should I expect to keep losing the same amount or should I expect a decrease? I don't want to underestimate too much and end up setting an easily achieved goal (I think if I reached it early I'd feel like it was too easy and stop trying as hard). I want something that'll push me but also be more realistic. I know you lose the most weight your first year after surgery, the "honeymoon" phase, so the goal I want to set is still within the year. I had surgery in April and the goal date I want to set is New Year's Day. So I'll be about 9 months out. Has anyone experienced weight loss slowing down the more you lose weight? Or has it been consistent? For people that have reached their goal weight, did it get harder to lose it the closer you got?

    New and Preop

Hi my name is Marie and I am new to group. I am currently 1week and four days into my 1 month preop liquid diet and the struggle is real. I don't feel hungry .I just want to eat some food. I am counting the days down until my September 16th surgery date. I am anxious excited nervous and scared somewhat, After talking with my sister today ( who has had the surgery years ago) she is the one I thought would be the most supportive. She has me thinking that I shouldn't be so excited about my preop appointment and my upcoming surgery. I am almost second guessing myself, more nervous about the process ..I do understand this is a major surgery and maybe that's what she thought I wasn't taking it seriously... looking for any advice or support ????

    Foods that make you dump

I get it (RH=delayed dumping) with all the same symptoms from: 1. Meals with way too much fat/richness. 2. Cheese/meat boards (too much fat in it and the cheese is an issue) 3. Too many carbs/sugar (real ice cream, desserts, too much sugar free dessert, chips, crackers, pretzels, popcorn, rice, bread, fruit, root veggies: potatoes, sweet potatoes) 4. Hidden sugars in restaurant food 5. Too much alcohol It's not enough to be a deal-breaker for me. Just gives me extra incentive to eat "on plan" healthy food that is very lean and low. I'm actually very very happy eating this way and don't miss the old ways. I think it's actually developed and gotten worse the further out I am.
