    Gaining

A family member had WLS a month and a half ago. He as well as others (me included) stepped on the scale only to find a weight gain. Then when told not to step on the scale every day and weigh only weekly did he find his weight loss to return. In a nutshell, nothing to worry about and if weighing everyday STOP and weigh weekly.

You're probably just full of poop. Or water...work the plan hon. Weight loss isn't linear but one thing it IS? Frustrating. Weightloss is so frustrating. I feel your pain.

    Walk me through your operation

Similar process as GreenTealael. Only difference was that since my surgery was a revision, they offered a epidural and that was done in the operating room. They also asked if I would be ok with a direct line in my neck as it would make injections and taking blood easier later. I said yes to both. 9 hours later I was waking up feeling like I was hit by a semi truck minus the broken bones. After recovery where your pretty out of it and I can barely remember much from it other then a nice nurse that hit a button when I said I hurt. They rolled me up to my room where I took inventory. Besides the incision site, I had 3 drains, Feeding tube coming out of my abdomen. What I didn't expect was my right leg and left arm were sore if not in pain. This was due to how I was laid on the operating table. The nurses were nice about it and provided ice packs to help recover. Your Milage May Vary though as all surgeries are different. Good Luck!

    Water pill??

Has anyone found a safe diuretic to take after surgery? I get awful bloat during my period and it is more noticeable since I've lost all my weight. It's actually uncomfortable. Perhaps, it was just as uncomfortable when I was much heavier but I didn't notice it. My fingers hurt and I can't wear my wedding ring. I'm nervous to try a water pill because I don't know how my body and stomach will react to it. Has anyone found a positive solution that works but is safe for people who have had WLS??

    im not going POO!

I have to take Miralax daily. I add a capful to my morning tea or coffee. Other than that I try to keep my fiber intake at least 25g a day.

    Judgemental Docs

Oy vey! Takes all kinds in this world. I got WLS shamed by a nurse during one of my pre-op appts. She couldn’t believe that insurance would pay for my surgery because I wasn’t as big as she thought I should be. Funny thing is.... I didn’t ask this boor for her opinion. Best of luck to you going forward. I’m in Ny too! Long Island
