    NSV at a Theme Park

So, Friday, I spent the day at Cedar Point here in NE Ohio with my wife. We got there at about 10 AM, and we ended up leaving at 10:30 PM. In that time, I managed to ride almost every roller coaster that they had in the park. Only one of them was I completely too big for. Sure, some of the safety bars and harnesses were a little on the tighter side, even for their larger riders areas, but six months ago, I wouldn't have been able to ride anything. I had a blast with my wife, and as of today, my BMI is now enough under 40 that it no longer rounds up to 40.

Okay, I think you got your subject and body text reversed, but regarding your question, you tend to put on a little weight in the hospital due to what they pump into you for the surgery. Some people don't, but a lot do. It may take another day or two before the scale starts showing the real loss. Some people don't advise people to use a scale for a week.

they pumped you full of IV fluids when you were in the hospital, and those fluids contain a lot of sodium to boot (which makes some people retain water). I've heard of people gaining 10+ lbs on those. I stayed off the scale for the first week or ten days just so that extra fluid would work its way out of my system so I wouldn't have a heart attack when I stepped on the scale.

    13 yr since my surgery

Yup, I had my gastric 13 yrs ago. I was really good about staying on track for about 2 yrs. Starting weight was 500lbs. Current weight 300lbs. Prior to WLS I was told I wouldn't be able to have anymore children. To my surprise, a year and a half later and down 100+ lbs. Positive pregnancy test. Unfortunately soon after I got so busy with life, I stopped going to my checkups and have since moved out of the city I lived in and lost track if the bariatric doctor. I need and want to get back on track. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi! By 1 month post op you will begin to see a real substantial difference in your weight loss (try not focusing on the day to day if it disappoints you) Congratulations on a safe surgery 💜

    Cravings Are Killing Me

Head hunger sucks. Drink water when a craving hits. Avoid commercials. I would mute TV and close my eyes. I broke up with Food TV. I also used to get up and walk during commercials. Lots o' walking going down. It gets better with time. Hang in there and follow your doc's plan!! You can do this.

    2 month mark

I am alittle over 2months post op and 39 pounds down. I started at 237 day of surgery on may 31st. I am 197 today! Goal 140 I am losing 2lbs a week with just getting my steps in everyday. I make sure to get in over 10,000 steps with my fit bit. I tend to walk about 13,000 steps a day.

Just found a link to this story on my google news feed. Thought it was a great read and very much agree with what it's saying. The best line is "Surgery is, by far, the most effective tool in managing or reversing Type 2 diabetes. Just as doctors wouldn't wait until a patient has advanced-stage cancer to treat their disease, patients shouldn't have to wait until they are severely obese to undergo surgery," Brethauer said. https://www.wfmz.com/features/life-lessons/scientists-want-to-change-criteria-for-bariatric-surgery-eligibility/1100520796 Thought I'd share with the group
