    Cold feet

You will find it much easier to stay on plan after your surgery so don't beat yourself up too much about it. Help is on the way! But after your surgery consider fear of failure your best friend not an enemy. Embrace that fear and never let go of it.

    Glass of wine...

Some of the worse ulcers ever were at the anastomosis of a gastric bypass patient who started drinking a little wine again - 14 year post op!!!! Many others, as well. Those surgical tissues remain fragile forever, I'm thinking. Alcohol is a terrible irritant to tissue of any kind, but for surgical areas, even worse. Everyone makes their own decisions and takes their own risks, but for me, alcohol is on the "never again" list.

The diet varies from program to program. I’m in the middle of my 2 week pre-op which is very low carbs (less than 20g/day), high protein (120g/day). I only have to do clear liquids the last 24 hours prior to my surgery on 8/12. I felt pretty rough the first couple days, but feeling ok now.

I just got an order in yesterday. Only I got the caramel flavor. Next time I will get the fruity version!

    The dreaded full liquid diet

Absolutely! Plus it really kickstarts your weightloss too. You'll be on liquids post op and your compliance before and after can set you up mentally for success because it proves (if only to yourself) your level of endurance and seriousness about it all. Also dont forget the main reason for the preop liver shrink: to male sure your liver is soft, small and pliable enough to move during surgery without the risk of ot breaking tearing or puncturing. If it is not, your surgeon may decide to close up and rescheduled surgery until it is... No one wants that. Good Luck 💜

I was in the same position as you a couple months ago (and I'm 5'2" too!). ...was going to post a more in depth reply here, but @Healthy_life2 just reminded me with her post above that I am overdue in posting in The Maintenance Thread she quoted. Will work on that now and link it up from here to avoid double posting...

    2 month mark

I am alittle over 2months post op and 39 pounds down. I started at 237 day of surgery on may 31st. I am 197 today! Goal 140 I am losing 2lbs a week with just getting my steps in everyday. I make sure to get in over 10,000 steps with my fit bit. I tend to walk about 13,000 steps a day.
