    Straw

As I recall, I used them in the hospital, in those little juice boxes. As you can see, this is one of those things that some docs make a big deal about and others don't have any problem. It seems to be another case where if it bothers you (like sucking in too much air - don't try to get that last drop!), don't do it, and if it doesn't, then it isn't hurting anything.

    Glass of wine...

Some of the worse ulcers ever were at the anastomosis of a gastric bypass patient who started drinking a little wine again - 14 year post op!!!! Many others, as well. Those surgical tissues remain fragile forever, I'm thinking. Alcohol is a terrible irritant to tissue of any kind, but for surgical areas, even worse. Everyone makes their own decisions and takes their own risks, but for me, alcohol is on the "never again" list.

    Cravings Are Killing Me

I agree with @MsCallieigh, I also had surgery on 7/23 and am only allowed, protein shakes, broth and water. Its hard! Everyday i wake up to the smell of bacon, eggs and biscuits... my husband has to eat.. I'm just happy i don't need to cook it. I too just drink a protein drink or water and keep busy.. it's really hard but we can do this.

    Any Early August Sleevers?!?!

Just got my sleeve 2 days ago - August 1. I was home from the hospital last night and am feeling markedly better today. Good luck to everyone!

So sorry that happened to you Ruby. Is there a way we can avoid vomiting ? I have a real bad fear of it . It hasn’t happened to me for 50 years! So I’m really really worried about it . Was anyone else like this? or is it just me ? I’m having a by pass on 12th August .

Yikes! Sorry!!! You'll know soon if it's a one-off. Maybe take a small step back a stage at your next meal and see how you do with it, and also see how you do with fluids. A tough food can happen any time. Or maybe you didn't chew well enough, ate too fast, took too big of a bite, or are just having an "off" day where your pouch or esophagus are irritated.

    VSG surgery

I am 54 years old and had the gastric sleeve just shy of 8 months ago and haven't had one minute's problem or complication. It's been wonderful.

    2 month mark

I am alittle over 2months post op and 39 pounds down. I started at 237 day of surgery on may 31st. I am 197 today! Goal 140 I am losing 2lbs a week with just getting my steps in everyday. I make sure to get in over 10,000 steps with my fit bit. I tend to walk about 13,000 steps a day.

To fly or not to fly

Everyone thank you for all the info. I have pushed back my surgery to the month of September where I do not have any planned travels.
