    💜AUGUST 2019 CHALLENGE💜

Personal goal this month. Learn to relax a bit and figure out how to live at my current weight. Surgery VSG 8/13/18. My one year follow up is this month, I’m kinda in maintenance/clueless land right now. I’m still eating like I’m losing, but I’m not losing. Current weight 130-131 BMI 22 Fun fact: I dated a guy in high school who is now a pretty famous Emmy winning actor.

    Pre-op struggles

Hiya my surgery is the same day as yours I am not enjoying this restricted diet but am happily plodding along. Your pre-op diet is different to mine, I have a choice of 4 types I can mix and match. I can do restricted calorie, restricted carbs and portions, meal replacement or, 2 shakes & 1 meal a day. I'm allowed to mix and match as long as I keep to 800-1000 calories a day. What are you struggling with? Hunger? Boredom?

    Pre-op struggles

I’m still eating 3 meals. No sugar, nothing bad , no binging but still eating 3 meals. My dr & Nutrionist haven’t put many restrictions on me so I think I’m being too lackadaisical. I’m sharing my truth because I know it will help to keep me accountable! On another note.... aren’t you sooo excited? I’ll follow you & perhaps we can keep up to date on each other’s progress progress !!! 😄 Ah yes, mine is still 3 meals a day too unless I have a shake for two of the meals. I am glad I didn't have to do 4 weeks though! I am SUPER excited I had my pre-op assessment today, MRSA swabs/bloods/ecg and saw my anaesthetist this morning. She was lovely and doing all that today just made me even more excited. Yes good idea, when we are recovering we can compare stories lol. I honestly can't wait for the 12th, my op is in the afternoon so that is going to be one very long and slow morning!

I stopped making my lisinopril/HCTZ (blood pressure) immediately. The same for Metformin (pre-diabetes). My CPAP after a few weeks. I'm still on my benzodiazepines, anti-depressants, and pain meds (morphine). I never had to substitute a liquid form for any of my many horse pills. I took big pills right out of the gate and never had a problem. I've heard that's not the case for everyone, however, so I'd be prepared to consult with a pharmacist to find out if other forms exist and then follow up with your doctor to make changes, if necessary. My daughter is a PharmD. If you send me a list of your meds, I can ask her what other forms they come in for you.

Am I eating too many POPSICLES???

Holy moley that's a lot! But I guess it's just liquid so it's no big deal. I was eating two a day after surgery.

22 pounds yes 22 pounds of fat, no water weighs around 8 pounds a gallon and is the first thing you lose we carry so much water weight but as you eat less you hold onto less water. good luck going forward just as a side not i looked up my first 30 day weight loss, 42 freakin pounds from 8-1 to 9-1 post surgery 9 pounds the next month. stay positive when it slows down dont let that scale mess with your head

    Is This Sleep Apnea?

One of the biggest signs is the inability to stay awake during the day. You might want to at least do an at home sleep study. I was amazed how much better I felt after I got used to the CPAP machine and was sleeping through the night.
