    Loss of appetite

I had my surgery almost four weeks ago, and I was doing okay for the first three weeks. Now, in the fourth week, I’ve suddenly lost my sense of taste and everything grosses me out. The idea of putting anything not milk or water into my mouth makes me want to throw up, including my meds and vitamins. I feel awful, I have no stamina for even the simplest of tasks, I can’t stand up long enough to cook or shower properly. Is any of this normal? I’m starting to wonder if I’ve made a very big mistake.

I had to wait approximately a week after finishing my EKG and my labs to schedule the appointment to get my surgery date I would keep calling. If you wait on them to call you would probably be waiting forever. Don’t worry about bugging them. Sometimes they need reminders or a little push lol.

    NEE CLOTHING

While I tried to buy things on sale as I was moving down in sizes, I also treated myself to some full price clothing as a reward to myself. It felt good.

    Post sleeve weight gain

Here's Dr. Matthew Weiner's take on weight gain and stretching out your tool. It's a common issue. And newbies defend their position to the death: that "everything in moderation" is ok. Dr. Weiner calls it the myth of restriction and malabsorption. Love it! This isn't magic bean surgery. They operate on our tummies not our heads. So we have to do everything we can to address the head issues that contributed to our disease while maximizing the advantage that WLS provides. It doesn't just "magically" end being a tool at the end of our honeymoon periods (anything equal to or <2 years). You still have your tool. But you have to exercise it. I too highly recommend how healthy counseling is for us. Get a referral to your RD for post op loss care and also to a bariatric counselor. All of our surgeons wish that their patients come back to them when they are only at the 10lb regain stage rather than the 50 or 60 or 100lb regain stage. 10lbs in 3 months really needs to be quickly evaluated. It could be your choices, but it could also be hormonal of some nature and you need to have a complete work-up and evaluation. BTW, you should stick around here and get support and provide support. Your journey will help others just like you/us!!!! Here's Dr. Weiner on the subject.

    Diabetic and sleeved

I was on 1000mg of metformin 2x per day and around 40 units of insulin and still had an a1c above 7. I went home after surgery on no meds. At my 3 month checkup my a1c was 5.1. I just had a health screening at work the other day (now almost 6 months post-op) and my fasting blood sugar was normal. It feels great to be on this side of diabetes!
