    Post sleeve weight gain

Here's Dr. Matthew Weiner's take on weight gain and stretching out your tool. It's a common issue. And newbies defend their position to the death: that "everything in moderation" is ok. Dr. Weiner calls it the myth of restriction and malabsorption. Love it! This isn't magic bean surgery. They operate on our tummies not our heads. So we have to do everything we can to address the head issues that contributed to our disease while maximizing the advantage that WLS provides. It doesn't just "magically" end being a tool at the end of our honeymoon periods (anything equal to or <2 years). You still have your tool. But you have to exercise it. I too highly recommend how healthy counseling is for us. Get a referral to your RD for post op loss care and also to a bariatric counselor. All of our surgeons wish that their patients come back to them when they are only at the 10lb regain stage rather than the 50 or 60 or 100lb regain stage. 10lbs in 3 months really needs to be quickly evaluated. It could be your choices, but it could also be hormonal of some nature and you need to have a complete work-up and evaluation. BTW, you should stick around here and get support and provide support. Your journey will help others just like you/us!!!! Here's Dr. Weiner on the subject.

    Stretched Pouch?

2 1/2 years? Yes you can reverse it. You have described yourself as lazy. You wont be able to reverse it unless you are ready to work it. Stop grazing and pushing limits and get back on track or you could end up where you started. Good luck.

    Stretched Pouch?

I literally watch this YouTube from Dr. Weiner every month. I want it to be a constant reminder of the myth of "restriction and malabsorption" or as I say, "everything in moderation" and instead focus on developing ongoing relationships and desire for deeply nutritious foods!

    Holy pistachios Batman!!!

Okay, I had a small bag of pistachios and was super hungry so I ate a few. They tasted AH-MAZING!! So I ate some more and basically I’m addicted to them at the moment. Didn’t see anything saying I can or cannot have them (7 weeks post-op). Anyone have any ideas if these are okay or if I’m going to end up in the ER for eating these delicious green devils? :)

    Post sleeve weight gain

I’m about 2 1/2 years post sleeve and I did nothing but sat back and let the weight fall off. And I admit I’m a very lazy person but now I find that I can eat more so I’ve slowly started gaining weight. And as I’ve gradually gain 10lbs in 3 months as I’ve noticed I’ve been pushing my limits, but the good thing is I stop due to that I get really sick when I do which stops me but I have noticed that I can eat more now. My question is, is the damage done? Is my pouch already ruined?

    10 Week Post-Op Stall?

Don't beat yourself up or worry about doing something wrong. Stalls just happen. Your body can't lost weight consistently and it is adjusting and transitioning from the surgery and from being in steady weight loss for 10 weeks. Stalls are inevitable. Just be patient and it'll pass.

    Stretched Pouch?

I will be 2 years out in 2 weeks and I still have the same restriction I had a year ago. I just had 1 scrambled egg and 2 slices of bacon and I am stuffed.

Yep, @Queen Grandma is right - snacking is ok in moderation. But - what sort of snack? How far over your calories does it put you for the day? If you are ‘giving in’ and having a protein bar, well that is different to if you are giving in and having a pizza or a McD’s supersize meal or a diner sized portion of cake! i am 9 months out and struggle with temptation too. A few things have helped: 1. If possible don’t have high-refined-sugar snacks in the house. I have a rule - if I am desperate for something like that I have to walk to the shop (1 mile, with 1 mile uphill home) to get it. I have only set out twice and both times ended up just having a walk instead. 2. Plan for both snacks and treats. I have a note on the fridge of a few treats I am happy to have - yummy but ok for my stage of the journey. And another list of healthy snacks, to remind me. Cos when I get a snack-attack, I suddenly seem to forget about fruit, or yoghurt, of lettuce/hummus/cheese - crisps is the ONLY snack I can remember exists! 3. Plan. Plan ahead. Did I mention plan? Have frozen oopsie rolls in the freezer, your favourite cheese (Swiss for me) in the fridge, tins of sardines in Louisiana hot-sauce in the pantry. You know you’ll crave - so stock up the good stuff so it is easy to make a good choice! And I log all my food in myfitnesspal - I have a section for “screw-ups” but I hardly use it these days. It is great to look back at the “snacks” section when I am craving - I now put only healthy snacks there, so I can use it to remind me of stuff out there that I like.. It takes time but the things you crave genuinely do start to change! And - go easy on yourself. It is a marathon, not a sprint! But - do work at changing, cos we all need better habits if we want to avoid regain 😁 x
