    Struggling with Pre-op diet

It's tough. Anyone that says different is fooling themselves. But you can do it! Stick with it and you'll be so proud of what you can accomplish. During my pre-op diet there was pizza brought in to work for some reason or another. I wanted to cheat so bad. What I ended up doing was peeling a couple of pepperonis off a slice and sucking on them. Satisfied my craving without truly giving in. That's my weird advice - suck on a pepperoni slice or two or three.

    Allergic reaction to peotein drink

What kind of reaction are you having? I don't use any artificial sweeteners at all. I drink water or herbal tea. I use a very good quality whey isolate protein powder (BioChem) that is soy free, 99% lactose free, gluten free, and has no added sugars or artificial sweeteners/flavors. I get it at sprouts and add it to my smoothies, yoghurt, soups, beans, just about anything. Getting rid of the sweet tooth is a real help with avoiding temptations later. For me, a piece of fruit tastes so sweet it is amazing - I almost feel guilty!

    I think I'm dehydrated

Check with your Dr's office. I needed to get fluids 2x and I was able to do it outpatient. There Is a test you can do on the back of your hand. If the skin doesn't retract easily when pulling it, you may be dehydrated. It gets better with time. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Whew what an up and down 24 hours it's been... Yesterday I was pretty confident that I was finally through my first stall (after 3 full weeks!) and I was feeling good about getting 5km of walking in using my Nordic walking poles. I also have mastered some of my pills... ursodiol and calcium citrate have become my nemesis, because they are both large-ish pills and they get stuck on the way down and trigger vomiting... three times a day each! Turns out I can split my ursodiol in half, and take two smaller pills to get it down, and I can crush my calcium citrate and take it with a bit of apple sauce. Victory! But then I did something pretty stupid and tried to eat half a smokie at dinner. I thought it would work because I have had kielbasa successfully, and I was using mustard as a bit of meat lube, as Fluffy calls it. Yeah... not smart. I spent more than three hours dealing with slimies, foamies, and general vomiting. Ugh! It was awful. The only highlight of the evening was that my Roughriders won their game. This morning, I was up and out for my walk by 6am, got in my 5km (although I'm feeling it a bit... sore legs), and managed my morning Rxs without issue. Even had a great poop! (who knew I could get so excited about that?) and I was down 1.2lb from yesterday! Woohoo! My plan for the day is to take it easy food-wise. Had some greek yoghurt with protein powder for breakfast and am planning on some egg salad for lunch. Giving my poor pouch a break from all the heaving yesterday. Here's hoping to have my first vomit free day in over 3 weeks.

Exactly...but that is also specifically why after doing some more information, is I want to address any remaining questions and also give him any new information about myself that helps him ensure his initial recommendation is still what he feels is best. I also am of a 'trust, but verify' mindset with doctors..all of them, especially specialists.
