    Venting my depression

You might want to consider some therapy to deal with those food feelings and what's going on in your life right now.

Hello, Everyone. I'm completely new here (haven't even been trolling)! My surgery date is on Tuesday, June 25th. And, the path to get to surgery was relatively short. Years ago I had a lap band that we were never able to properly inflate because my system was so sensitive. So, it just stayed there, restricting a tad bit, being annoying--sort of like a surly underachieving teenager, capable of brilliant outcomes but totally lazing about. Like many, I've pulled weight off and gained weight again--for years. 50lbs here. 30lbs there. For a good while, I was quite healthy after one of those interludes and I hold that memory close and strongly. The decisions to again undergo weight loss surgery was precipitated by my sense that I was on a road that led to poor health outcomes no matter how I looked at them--blood pressure increasing to "normal" although my blood pressure is typically very low, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, pre-diabetes. So, I decided to nip things in the bud, get my health back, and take charge. So...that's why I am here. I don't tend to be a big group person. In fact, I'm something of a loner. But, in considering how my psychological, emotional, and tactical behaviors over the years have informed my weight and health, I thought: you'd better try something different, woman. And, there are a LOT of people in the world who know much more than you. Being in community with them would seem like the smart thing to do, which is why I'm here. I look forward to learning from you all. And, I appreciate you all. Warm Wishes, Cris

    After surgery questions 😊

    1) I measure and weigh all my food. I eat slow and I can usually feel that it's my limited with my measured food. 2) So I use to do three meals a day BUT I wasn't hitting my calories because my pouch doesn't tolerate as much as it is suppose to and it was giving my some kidney issues. So I do breakfast.. 2 hours later a snack, then 2 hours later lunch, then 2 hours later a snack then 2 hours later dinner. My snacks in between are protein. Sometimes it'll be a protein bar or something. 3) I'm an assistant manager so if i'm in the mornings I'm by myself so I try to run back for a snack when no one is in the store. (I work in a small store) My team members are also aware of my need to eat often so they usually can cover the floor while I run in the back and get food.

One week post-revision, down 5 lbs since surgery day.....which puts me back under 300. VICTORY!!! Still a ways to go but I'll take every little win I can get. Feeling great other than minor abdominal discomfort.

Okay so even though it’s a bajillion degrees outside today, I made the “ramen” again for lunch. What I do is take a packet of the bariatric cream of chicken soup and add a scoop of beef bone broth. I run 8oz water though my Keurig then stir in some little torn up pieces of seaweed snacks (the wasabi flavor is full of awesomeness). Then I take my angel hair tofu, rinse in a colander form 30-60 seconds, throw in a bowl and microwave for about a minute. I don’t care if it’s wet because I’m gonna throw it into the broth anyway. I also added a dollop of wasabi (not pictured) into the cup to give it some pep. All in all, I’m only able to eat about half at a time, so it serves me 2 meals during my eating window. Each half gives me 14gm protein, 90 calories, 5 gm carbs.

Eat really slow. Measure your food. If you think you’re full, you probably are. I just started soft food this week and it is like a full time job eating all day and waiting to drink and drinking enough and taking pills at the right time. Pack things that are quick and easy. I eat a lot of string cheese right now, yogurt, cottage cheese. I have been eating the crockpot shredded chicken I made earlier this week for several days. Boring maybe but so much better than all liquids I don’t really mind at all🤣

Somewhat akin to me going into Wally World or another department store and not taking the largest size on display. I am having some fun going from 20 to 18, BIG BIG SELECTION- and another good point- I originally had targeted size 15 Junior, at 18 it truly is Just Over The Horizon! And Sniff Sniff💦 I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD GET CLOSE, really was something I told PCP and surgeon to take them off my Trail! Now it could and probably Will Happen!

    Vsg to rny

Yes, that is exactly how I feel. I had the VSG in December 2014. A month or so after I had horrible GERD and my “full sensor” was way off within about 6 months. I only lost about 45 pounds total in the last 4 years and decided to get the revision. I got the bypass a few weeks ago and immediately there was no sign of Gerd. I’m praying my weight loss is much better.
