Eat really slow. Measure your food. If you think you’re full, you probably are. I just started soft food this week and it is like a full time job eating all day and waiting to drink and drinking enough and taking pills at the right time. Pack things that are quick and easy. I eat a lot of string cheese right now, yogurt, cottage cheese. I have been eating the crockpot shredded chicken I made earlier this week for several days. Boring maybe but so much better than all liquids I don’t really mind at all🤣

    Evening sweet tooth

Seems like I do a great job at work sticking to my healthy eating habits - greek yogurt for breakfast; P3, tuna or chicken salad for lunch; protein bar in the afternoon. Then I get home in the evening and the craving for sweets intensifies times ten! I'm sneaking handfuls of cereal, eating my daughter's granola bars, etc. I have the calories to spare usually but I need to spend them on healthier choices instead of pure sugar!

Nice! I wonder if I'll get something like that. I know I have a 1hr class I have to attend then after I have a 2hr class its on the 19th. I should probably have asked more questions about it and what they are for and when I would get the 2wk preop diet. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

Somewhat akin to me going into Wally World or another department store and not taking the largest size on display. I am having some fun going from 20 to 18, BIG BIG SELECTION- and another good point- I originally had targeted size 15 Junior, at 18 it truly is Just Over The Horizon! And Sniff Sniff💦 I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD GET CLOSE, really was something I told PCP and surgeon to take them off my Trail! Now it could and probably Will Happen!

Why Do We Still Use Food To Socialize??

Talking to a friend of mine who had WLS. (He is one of the few that knows about my WLS.) Since we haven't seen each other in awhile he suggested we meet to catch up on things. He suggested that since we both don't eat much we can meet at a diner and just get a bowl of soup. I asked him why he chose the diner to meet. He said that we used to go there all the time and that was usually the place we would meet. After WLS I'm trying my best to change my bad behaviors as it pertains to food. One of them is not going out to eat 3-4 times a week. I prefer to stick to a meal plan that allows me nourishment and has healthy choices. I told my friend that we are so hardwired to look at a food experience as a way to socialize. Couldn't we meet at a park on a nice day to chat? Is there any other place we can meet that does not involve food? I also don't eat processed foods and he doesn't either. I reminded him that the diner serves soup from a can it's not made in-house. So, it's a highly processed food that will do neither of us any good. In the end, we both realized that we have such a long way to go in order to deprogram ourselves of many years of thinking we need food to socialize. I understand that there will be times that we will need to be in a food to socialize setting such as weddings, birthday parties, etc. I don't think we two friends need it, not at this stage of our lives. We both needed WLS due to our compulsions to over eat. We eventually met up at a park. We both commented on how hard the bench has become since we had our weight loss.

Why Do We Still Use Food To Socialize??

This is the party season and what else is there to do but be gluttonous ... I decided to mingle and talk and converse instead of hovering around the appetizers and cupcakes and it isn’t always easy.. especially if someone is messily consuming said cupcake as you try to talk to them.. I look around and see people who were never food addicted and they seem to be there for the fun and not the food. I try being like them!

Why Do We Still Use Food To Socialize??

It wasn't ME talking about donuts! I was quietly doing my job and sipping a protein shake hidden behind my computer!

    Not telling anyone

I told my brother and SIL (b/c she had to come stay with me after surgery), my boss (who also happens to be a friend), and one other friend. After about 6 months, I told my sister because she was worried about how I was eating. Other than that, if people notice my weight loss or eating habits, I just say thank you or I'm eating more, smaller meals. It is nobody's business.
