    GETTING SURGERY AUGUST 19th!!

FINALLY of 4 months having two bumps in the road preventing me to get approved to finally getting the call Thursday from my surgeons office telling me to call them back to schedule surgery and my insurance approved me! They first gave me the date of July 8 but I had to get an AUGUST date due to work schedule for the next 2 months! I been in the process since Dec. 5 (consult day) I am so excited, after I got the call i called my mom, sister, and grandparents with the news with tears in my eyes. All day that day I was so emotional wanting to scream to cry of happiness. I can not wait for my new journey in getting healthy. Family have asked me if I’m excited and scared. All I’ve told them is both but that I am not trying to think of the scary things. .... just wanted to share with all of you

    protein shake

Sometimes I use a prepared shake and sip that in 15-30 min. Other times I make a shake with milk (any kind - soy has the highest protein), protein powder, 2 TB greek yoghurt, berries, spinich/greens. This takes 30 minutes to sip.

I have a giant tub of Isopure Dutch Chocolate. I like it because its the least sweet of all the powders I've tried (but if you like sweet, it may not be for you): https://www.bodybuilding.com/store/isopure/zero-carb.html?skuId=NB032&cb1560389876603=US I mix mine with 2 teaspoons of decaf instant coffee grinds. I've never added any fruit (too much sugar for me).

    Test before surgery

Everybody has a difference requirement for there insurance company and/or surgeon team. Before I even meet my surgeon, I had a upper endoscopy, HIDA scan, gi nutrition e val, nut e valve, gi doc saying what I needed for surgery and his PA backing up his claim with a PLAN B, my pcp cleared me. The only things that I needed was a sleep study, 24 hr ph test, gastro empty stomach test, blood work, ultrasound, pulm doc clearence, ekg and physical with chest x ray. But, my surgeon team turn in all my paperwork before I had my 24 hr Ph test, ultrasound and sleep study and I was still approved by Cigna. Hope you get everything approve. I am not doing this for weight loss like everybody else on here... I am doing it to help my gastroparesis and GERD to go away. Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

I’m so sorry to hear you are going through anxiety and that part of it was fueled by coworker and nurse. I’m getting my surgery next month and I’m a doctor. I decided to just tell everyone a year ago, don’t ask me why, I just did, and I have heard so many different opinions coming from fellow doctors and nurses, but to my surprise, most of them have been of support and motivation. One of the few people who was against it (like I asked for her permission???) was as girl who went to med school with me. She actually got mad at me and told me she was disappointed (what?), anyways, after speaking to so many people about my surgery I can confidently say, her words were not coming from a professional place but from a preconceived notion, funded by judgment and lack of information. This is such a long journey, and you don’t need everyone’s support, just the people you care for and really matter. That silly nurse’s jaw will drop when she sees how well you are doing after the surgery, and how much work you put into it, and how GOOD and Healthy you look! Good luck tomorrow!! Wish you all the best!

Hi, I am set to have sleeve surgery 7/8/19. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea through the pre testing. It is moderate I believe. I am told the surgeon will not do surgery unless you comply with the cpap for a month prior to surgery. I have psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia so when I put the nose pillows on they irritate me as well as the face straps, I also move a lot with the arthritis pains and I am finding it near impossible to wear it. When I do manage to sleep with it on I wake up an hour later feeling like I am drowning or something. I don’t want to miss out on surgery but I cannot do this. I have a message for surgeon to call me but the assistant on the phone was pretty rude about compliance. Do you know of alternatives or if I can switch to a different surgeon and not lose my 2 months into this program? Feeling stuck. I am 5’3 and 201 at 53 years old. I need this for my autoimmune issues and hate to lose it.
