    Thank you!

    intestinal blockage

The day after my gastric bypass I had to go back to the ER due to SEVERE pain. After hours in the ER with signs of shock I was transferred to another hospital and had emergency surgery due to an intestinal blockage secondary to intestinal adhesions from a previous surgery I had YEARS ago. I'm just glad my surgeon saved my life because I almost lost it that day. Another blockage or adhesion can happen at any time because I've had previous abdominal surgeries, the GB had nothing to do with the blockage.

    Pre Surgery Jitters

Congratulations on your journey as it seems you are already off to a good start. Don't worry about making your journey public as many of us here have chosen to keep our decision personal. Like you I don't eat cottage cheese or seafood but I find yogurt and different types of bean soups work for me. Don't stack up on to many food because your taste and craving will change after the surgery. Many also depend on protein shakes and powder as a good source of protein post-op. Wishing you the best on your journey!

I read this a few days ago and have been ruminating on it ever since. You are right. I am loosening the reins and I wish I wasn't because I'm not at goal yet. I need to tighten it up but also acknowledge that so long as I am considerate of what I'm eating and accounting for it in my macros, it is simply a choice I'm making, and I need to continue to weigh it against the "consequences" of how it affects my body- both now and in the future.

All done! Feeling pretty good sucking back on ice cubes. Walking around with little nausea or pain. Just a bit of gas pressure. Still have not peed, but am hopeful for the next attempt.

    Post Op Redistribution of Fat?

I'm watching this as well. I've noticed I can't seem to lose anymore from my belly. Not keeping me from trying though.

Welcome to the forums and good luck on your WLS journey. You lost a LOT in your first 30 days, so I think that's above-average. Keep up the good work.

Never thought I would ask this question...

my weight loss stopped on its own. i was going down 3 pounds a month like clock work then one day weighed in at 143 pounds and 2 days later was 145 then 147 a week later. now i cycle back and forth from 147 to 150. i didn't do anything different of change up anything. i just bounced off the 143 and settled in at my now "normal" weight. this was almost 5 months ago and i feel good and i am adjusting to the mind set that i am all done with the weight loss and moving on with my life.

Hey Jay453! I experienced the same thing....I kept my weight off for 8 years. I went from 272 lbs and a size 22 to my lowest weight of 139 and a size 2. I maintained that for about 6 years then hit 50 years old and oh boy has it been a struggle! I was very disciplined for all of those years and then got a little lax and gained 27 lbs and 3 pants sizes. I've started working on getting back on track, made some changes and am down 13 lbs and a pant size. Have 14 more to go to be back at my 145 and size 2-4! I had to find new things that worked since things that I did pre 50 doesn't work anymore!
