    Soft Food Early

My body can’t take another pudding, purée, fake protein Premier shake, popsicles, jello anymore man. Starting tomorrow I’m starting my soft foods 2 days early. Crap is not even healthy and I feel like I’m just welting away. I need eggs, fish, cheese, fruit, veggies with some type of substance. I feel so weak and I just threw up for the first time since surgery on mar 27th. I will let me doctor know but I have to move on to something different tomorrow.

    Overeating with Sleeve

Oh I remember having that feeling of getting dizzy and nearly blacking out. I don't know what changed to make it stop but that has stopped for me. Maybe it's the calorie increase, maybe the addition of some more carbs, I'm not sure. Hope it ends for you soon, too.

No, doctor's plans vary greatly. My doctor had me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery and *6* WEEKS after surgery. So I get it. But I've reviewed the posts and frankly I don't see anyone telling you to follow THEIR plan, they are advising you to follow YOUR SURGEON'S plan. You do what you want. But just because you aren't getting the responses you want - which seems to be them supporting your choice not to follow your surgeon's plan - does not mean you are being judged. Youre going to find a lot more 'tough love' in these forums than you will enabling.

    Soft Food Early

I can absolutely relate! I had my first ricotta bake last night just because I had to have something with substance, not just liquid or slimy yogurt. It still amazes me that it can take me 45 minutes to an hour to finish something the size of a half baked muffin. Just the act of chewing something was great. I’m not advocating not following your Doc’s plan, but I do agree that 24 hours may not make a huge difference as long as it is something from the next phase.

    Cirrhosis

That is so scary. I did some research on fatty liver a while back when my average size 21 year old was diagnosed with it. She had been sick and I was running some blood work on her(i'm a lab tech) and found her liver enzymes through the roof. We've found that limiting red meat helps her a lot.

    Dec 2018 surgery updates please

It is wonderful to read all your success stories and the mounting rewards as December 2018 sleevers! Wow. My surgery was 12/17/2018 at NW Medical Center in Coral Springs, FL. I am currently three pounds away from onederland!!! A total of 57 pounds from 258 start weight the first of December. Usually major consecutive holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas thru New Years in the past, meant a weight gain for me. I tried to use restraint, but all the rich, high calorie "specialty foods" of the season just continued the never ending weight battle + cycle resulting in feeling more discouraged and hopeless with each passing year. :[ BUT NOT THIS New Year of 2019! I love my sleeve and so glad to have begun a new, hopeful and promising track! Does anyone else feel the same? Refreshing, right? My blood pressure and blood tests all came back healthy - And, left injured, problematic knee is much improved. Bowels have stabilized and vitamin regime no longer causes nausea. I follow closely Dr. V and my nutritionist's recommendations for balanced nutrition with moderate exercise, at this 3 ½ month juncture. Other aspects I am thrilled about is the ability to be satisfied with so much less volume of food. I really have not missed sugar, salt or fat laden recipes and desserts. While I had made major changes in my diet losing 41 pounds (298 at highest point) before considering surgery last November, the sleeve just simplifies and propels me forward in getting to my healthy weight. I desire to drop another 40 pounds and feel the confidence I can now do so. Not to mention, keeping it off and maintaining a healthy weight via reduced stomach - Breaking the vicious cycle. I have not seen the scale read under 200 pounds in over 23 years! That's a lot of baggage for this petite 5'0" frame and interior designer constantly on her feet. My clothes closet has been purged and taken to a quality consignment shoppe or Goodwill - Now shopping in regular departments for limited clothing in size large for tops and XL for slacks. Most of these sale items are quickly becoming too loose. So happy to no longer see 1X, 2X or 3X (at highest weight) on my clothing labels. Right? Excited for my size 10 and petite medium goal. Really proud of all of us! Let's keep on sharing our victories and "all the nuances" of becoming our best physically and emotionally. None can truly appreciate nor understand this journey we embark... except for us. That makes us a pretty fabulous group of comrades. Happy spring everyone! ;]

    Psych eval done!

I had my psych eval yesterday and it all went really well. We spent the first half of the appointment just talking and then I did three standardized psych tests, the first two were just anxiety/depression screenings which he saw no concerns with and the third one was 175 true/false questions. FWIW, I feel bad for anyone with severe paranoia that has to take that test, holy moly it was making me paranoid! Anyways, I took it on paper but he said normally they do it via computer and the program wasn't working right but at a glance he said that I am super organized, a perfectionist with perhaps a touch of OCD, and that I was a repressor. When he asked how I handle emotions I told him I walk away and do something else so that last test just confirmed it. He also just wanted to hear my why for wanting surgery and what has or hasn't worked in the past. I was 100% honest with him on everything he asked and it went well. He said he gives very few no's for surgery and gives out either yes with no recommendations or yes with recommendations. He said I would might benefit from therapy in the future to help with leaning on others and letting them see emotion but it could also just be who I am and that's ok too. He said that because I'm a paramedic and in the health care field that repression might be completely normal and not detrimental to me psychologically but some therapy might be beneficial to help me share other emotions. So it sounds like I'm getting the green light from his side and I might consider therapy this summer when my schedule frees up a bit. One thing he said about my perfectionism and organization its that it helps to make the surgery successful long term so he said that's a big positive. So just be 100% honest if you're nervous about it. There are ways to still get approved. Just thought I'd share my story

    Those nooks and Crannies

I use coconut oil. It's a dry oil with anti bacterial properties. After I shower I rub it in between my.legs, under my stomach and along my hips. A little goes a long way. It dries fast and leaves a barrier against chafing and if your skin is red or irritated it literally heals it overnight.

    Help. Pre-op

Do not worry or beat yourself up, cheats happen, just do your best to stay on plan. Not all pre-op diets are the same and most are not "set in stone" if you are having issues, reach out to your team and ask them if you can change things a bit to help you stay on task. Most teams would rather make small changes to keep you focused than not and risk having you go totally off the plan. it's hard, but it does make things easier post-op. Keep focused on why you want the surgery, keep that in mind at all times, it'll help you when you are feeling defeated. You have not lost until you give up.
