If you like your sweets like I do, you've got to try this recipe I made yesterday. It rocked my world! 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder 10 packets of splenda 1/4 cup of smooth peanut butter 1/4 cup of margarine You melt the peanut butter and margarine in a small saucepan just enough to soften it, then you mix it with the dry ingredients, press the mixture into a square pan and chill it in the refrigerator for an hour, then cut into squares. I made my first batch last night and wow oh wow was it good! What a treat for this sweet tooth and so filling. Nutritional info: 9 servings - 60 calories per serving, 6 g protein per serving, 2.5 g fat per serving, 4 g carbs per serving, 2 g sugar per serving

    Psych eval done!

I had my psych eval yesterday and it all went really well. We spent the first half of the appointment just talking and then I did three standardized psych tests, the first two were just anxiety/depression screenings which he saw no concerns with and the third one was 175 true/false questions. FWIW, I feel bad for anyone with severe paranoia that has to take that test, holy moly it was making me paranoid! Anyways, I took it on paper but he said normally they do it via computer and the program wasn't working right but at a glance he said that I am super organized, a perfectionist with perhaps a touch of OCD, and that I was a repressor. When he asked how I handle emotions I told him I walk away and do something else so that last test just confirmed it. He also just wanted to hear my why for wanting surgery and what has or hasn't worked in the past. I was 100% honest with him on everything he asked and it went well. He said he gives very few no's for surgery and gives out either yes with no recommendations or yes with recommendations. He said I would might benefit from therapy in the future to help with leaning on others and letting them see emotion but it could also just be who I am and that's ok too. He said that because I'm a paramedic and in the health care field that repression might be completely normal and not detrimental to me psychologically but some therapy might be beneficial to help me share other emotions. So it sounds like I'm getting the green light from his side and I might consider therapy this summer when my schedule frees up a bit. One thing he said about my perfectionism and organization its that it helps to make the surgery successful long term so he said that's a big positive. So just be 100% honest if you're nervous about it. There are ways to still get approved. Just thought I'd share my story

    Surgeon resigned

I experienced this 7yrs ago when I had a ballon inserted, By the end of 6 months My Doctor had resigned. I had to go to another hospital entirely to get the ballon removed. It wasn't a funny situation. Just hang in there though, it will be worth it in the end.

hmmm I never thought about any of the pain I had being related to the hernia repair. I just chalked all that pain up to the gas but it did last about 10 days for me.

    DIET BET.....LETS GET FIT!

No it officially starts on Thursday to give people time to sign up and such 😊 I have some personal friends in my group, so all I ask is that you don’t bring up WLS within the group because im being private about it and they don’t know I’ve had it 😊

I Believe It Was Worth It

I think ones motivations and expectations dictate so much of this. I did this solely to get healthier and improve how I physically felt. I did not expect rainbows and unicorns and for this to solve every problem or insecurity I’ve ever had. Even though I’m not to goal yet, I can honestly say mission accomplished. My health has improved drastically. I’m able to do things I wouldn’t normally have been able to or dared to do. Like many others, I only wish I had taken this step sooner.

    Holiday Party Tact

I decided pre-op that I was going to be loud and proud about the fact I had gastric. Everybody in the world knows. lmao. Two of my bosses at the Xmas Potluck last week didn't know and I had 2 cheese cubes, 2 green beans and 3 shrimp on my plate and I casually joked that it was the first time I had veggies in 6 weeks and they asked why and I was like "because I had gastric bypass". BOOM. Now they know. lol. Most of the time people think it's awesome OR they just shut up. EDIT: CRAP I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS WAS THE WLS VETERANS FORUM I AM SORRY FOR THE INTRUSION! LOL! PLEASE DON'T HATE ME. *disappears*
