How did your surgery go? How are you doing now? Thank you all for the well wishes. The procedure went great Kris77. The worst thing for me after the procedure was feeling nauseous but the meds they gave me helped a bunch. I left the hospital the following day and today was my first day at home. I was able to walk around the block twice today and have taken no pain meds. I feel very good about the way things are going.

My whole life long as I can remember since I watched Christopher Reeves in Superman I've been obsessed. I've bought multiple shirts with the big 'S' on front but most only go up to X or 2X so that's my dream to wear one of them and possibly have a nice chest to fill it out 😀 Up up and away!!

    Help! Am I CrAzY?!

I would say if you are steady in weight that you might not want to do this? I don't know your BMI but in the Netherlands the minimum for a gastric bypass/sleeve is 35 with co-morbidities or 40 without. If your lap band is giving you problems, you can consider it, but I wouldn't expect too much weight loss after? Good luck either way

    Not losing as fast

when I was where you are, I'd lost 28 lbs (16 lbs the first month,12 lbs the second). I was a slow loser the whole time, but I ended up losing over 200 lbs. Everyone's rate of weight loss is different depending on so many factors (age, gender, starting BMI, metabolic rate, etc). Your commitment to your program is going to have a MUCH greater impact on your eventual success than your rate of weight loss will, though. So just stick to your program, follow the rules, and the weight will come off, either fast or slow.

Baritastic! It's specifically for bariatric patients and let's you track your water, protein, vitamins, etc. You can set reminders/timers and it has a surgery countdown.

Surgery will knock off 50+ pounds over the first year. But regain IS possible, so you would forever have to be vigilant as to your calories in/out post-op as well. One thing most of us didn't know before starting this process.. (but we are learning now..): Exercise has relatively little to do with weight loss.. it's all about what you eat. In fact, after a minimal level of exercise that is enough to make you strong and maintain your lean body mass (muscles and bones, etc)... exercise is actually counter-productive because it makes you HUNGRY (one of your biggest complaints). If I could guarantee you would heal up from surgery without a problem, and live your life, forever healthy.. then I'd say it was a good option, and you should run out and do it tomorrow. The problem is that that isn't necessarily gonna be the case. Complications can and do happen, and some can be life altering, or even life-ending. It would be a shame for you to take that risk, when your body is likely just screaming for balance. Go to the gym twice a week to do weights. Walk 3 miles every day. That's it. Any more exercise isn't really needed. Check into getting your RMR/BMR tested, then use that information as a baseline for figuring out how many calories to eat. The thing is, that these suggestions are the same as we all have to do after surgery anyway.. you should just try them first.
