    Surgery fears..

I had RNY. I had symptoms pretty much as soon as I got home from the hospital. Everything I ate or drank BURNED LIKE FIRE, even water. Two or three weeks later, after they realized it wasn't just "sensitivity", they did an endoscopy and found the ulcer. I was on a liquid medicine called Carafate for two months, four times a day, and Pepcid and Prilosec. It recently healed on its own. The hernia, I had no symptoms, but they saw it when I had to have my gallbladder removed on 1/5. I started having serioussss gallbladder symptoms 1.5 months out from surgery. Extreme nausea and dry-heaving. They didn't realize it was my gallbladder for about 3 weeks after I had symptoms begin. They sewed the hernia while doing the gallbladder.

    Slow WL

My surgeon seemed disappointed in my loss at 3 weeks (16lbs) and said I should be under 200 by the time I go in for 6 week check in. Well tomorrow is my 6 week and I'm at 204. Im prepared for him to be dissapointed again but I am thrilled with 21lbs gone in 6 weeks. I've not been this weight in 6 years. I've not been cleared for gym yet so Im assuming that when I can exercise normally the weight will go faster. I feel like as long as I am doing what doc says and losing ... although slowly I'm happy.

So I am just over 5 months post op revision to Bypass and I am coming to a block/stall/halt..... whatever it may be in my weight loss. I only lost 2.6 lbs last month. I do great during the day but in the evening and night my cravings and hunger/head hunger are out of control, which makes me snack and crave sweets. But, I really think that the sugar free tea that I am drinking in the evenings is causing my cravings to be worse. I only have water during the day, but after work and at night I drink this tea (which I have a bit of an addiction to) It is sugar free, calorie free, carb free, but when I drink it I seen to have really bad cravings for sweets and sometimes salty snacks. I believe it has splenda in it. I don't know if it is the time of day that is my issues or the tea triggering an issue. So lord help me I am going to go cold turkey. No tea for one week and see what happens. I dearly love my sugar free tea so I am a bit panicked but I have to get the scale moving again!!!!!

    Depression and anxiety

Speaking as a mental health counselor and a fellow sleever, you are all on the right track. Use distraction, get moving, music, journal, art...whatever helps your mood. The thing is we can't go to our comfort foods anymore. That's going to make this journey challenging as we figure out new (hopefully healthier) habits for when we are feeling emotionally challenged (depression, anxiety, stress, anger, etc.) Of course, I'm biased, but having someone to talk to like a therapist will be really helpful.

Hi, I'm from Kentucky too! Yeah, I was disappointed when I couldn't get a surgery date as quickly as I thought I would or an appointment with the surgeon. Use this time to research everything and write down every single question you want to ask. I took a notebook with a list of questions with me to every appointment and they took as much time as I need to answer them all. Good luck with your appt!

    Surgery fears..

How did you find out you had an ulcer after your sleeve? What symptoms we're you having? Just our of curiosity. Did you have to get surgery again to fix the hernia and ulcer? How far out were you when these things showed up? Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app

    NOT FULL & always hungry

Most of those are sliders. And in my experience, it takes a while to feel the restriction from your RNY. I kinda "think" the nerves have to wake up. That's why it is really important to follow your plan and only eat the quantities it tells you to eat. Also, eating as low carb as possible will help with the hunger. Hang in there!

    Weight Loss Too Fast?

Your Weight loss is Dr Supervised. You can call him with any concerns. He can diagnose if anything is wrong. . Your sleeve restriction will become less over time. you will be able to consume more calories and the weight loss is slower.
