    Beginning my journey...

What I've learned so far is that everyone's journey is completely different! My insurance did not require me to lose weight or follow anything for a specified period of time. My pre-op diet is low carb/high protein but thankfully not all liquid. It's a rollercoaster and an emotional journey but we're all in it together!

    Resolutions 2019?

These are great! I love the last one - it’s so hard to do, great to have it boiled down to a “mantra” you can say to yourself to remember to stick with it! Good for you!! Thank you! We all tend ( at least I do) to do for everybody else and put ourselves last because our(my) self esteem has always been so low because of my size. Now this year, It is all about what is best for me and not the rest! Its going to be about what i want to do. Do I want to travel? Where do I want to go ( not the adult children)? What do I want to do on the weekend? This is the mentality I will bring into the new year. I will not be selfish because life "all about me" makes for a lonely life, but I am going to live life and not let life carry me through.

    Resolutions 2019?

My resolutions for this year are: to go to the gym 12 times a month or more. Make it a part of my normal routine Up my water intake and try to get in at least 80 ounces a day Track my intake. ALL of it. I am good at tracking liquid and protein but that is all.. I need to focus on carbs, calories, and fat to make my tracking complete. Slow down on my eating so that i can eat more than i am but not more than i should be Be more positive about everybody and everything Live life for me.. not just be alive, but live the life i have Happy New Year all!

    Beginning my journey...

Congrats on starting your journey! Take your measurements! There will be times when you want to hit the scale with a sledgehammer. It can be very fickle. But when your weight isn't dropping, your measurements probably are. That will help get you through stalls, which can be very discouraging. Take "before" photos as well. They'll help keep you motivated during tough times. Try to connect with a few people who have surgery at the same time as you. It is really helpful to swap stories and encourage each other. Do plenty of research. If you have multiple surgeons available in your area, compare their programs, the support offered (as in continuing access to the nutritionist, psychologist, etc.). Look into (and attend) support groups near you and ask questions of people who've used your surgeon, hospital, etc. Good luck!

Hi hope you are having a great New Year's Eve. I had RnY on Dec 10th. Had surgery as much or maybe a little more because of my comorbidities. I have had exactly 3 shots of insulin since Dec 9th. I was taking 5 a day, 6 on Wednesdays. I have lost 25 pounds since I began this journey in October. Whooo whooo! I try to walk everyday. I have a brace on both legs. They don't hold me back too much. I need knee replacement surgery on the one knee. My failure to lose weight for that found me on this journey. I had started it before but lost a lot of weight just going by the diet guidelines and chickened out. So thrilled I commeted to the journey this time. I give myself health and happiness for the new year.

    Slow heart rate

What are you using to measure your heart rate? Fitbit and other trackers are notoriously inaccurate. My fitbit is reading 51 bpm right now which I know is wrong. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
