Weight loss seems to be such a controversial subject. People are overly opinionated. I'm not and I don't want to be the spokesman for bariatrics. I don't feel the need to educate anyone on WLS. They can do their own research. Don't invest time in negative people. Keep life simple.

Unless the person is someone close to me and I can tell they really were sincere and meant well with the statement, I don't engage. In my case, I'm a food addict - it's like telling an alcoholic to just stop drinking. No 💩 Sherlock 🙄

    Recovery

I'm a teacher. I took 2 weeks. I might have been able to manage with one, but it would have been very hard. The pain was mostly gone after a week but I was tired and didn't really feel myself. Teachers are always on their feet and the days are long. Take 2 weeks if you can. Don't even consider going back with less than a week off.

    Ya know what's awesome????

I am 2 weeks out and every time I get on the scale the number is lower. Once or twice it's been the same, but never HIGHER! When has that ever happened in my life? Nearly never! What a wonderful Christmas miracle that has been made available to all of us so we can get started on a losing journey! I already barely remember the pain and discomfort and am now just looking forward to being cleared to work out. I never could have done this on my own and I'm just so grateful!!!!!!!!!!!

Thinking about food all the time

If your pre op...Today I felt that way off and on. Drank Crystal light, broth, and decaf coffee to help fill me up and a hot sugar free jello... they are so good. I love an apple drink from Walmart it is like Crystal light and I freeze it enough its slushy.

    Any good protein tips?

I also like the variety of the Syntrax NEctar shakes. Love the lemonade. They sell a variety pack. I haven't seen them in stores, but I have bought it online. I also like unjury chocolate and premier chocolate. re: budget, just remember even if the powders seem expensive, you'll only be spending a couple dollars a meal, so it is still cheaper than most foods you'd eat before surgery. Good luck.

    Preop not losing

Happy Holidays everyone. Just wanted you all to know I did end up losing 7 pounds after 14 days of hellish torture LOL. My doctor said my liver shrank a little but not a lot. He said it will continue to shrink as I lose weight. I was on 19 medications and he said that can sometimes have an effect on the shrinking... so now we know. Surgery went well and other than feeling like I did 100 situps I wouldn't really know I had surgery. No real after effects. I threw up once in the hospital when I took too many of my 19 meds at once but other than that no other issues. I'm back to drinking normally with no problem. Still no food yet, I have 8 more days to go to get to puree but I get milk and yogurt on Wed and I'm really looking forward to it. I think it will settle okay but will do small amounts at first. Thanks, everyone for being so nice and supportive! Love this group!
