    Application denial

The good news is that the insurance is cooperating--usially when we hear stories, it's about insurance drama. I bet it goes a lot more smoothly from here on out! Sent from my LG-G710 using BariatricPal mobile app

This preop diet is killing me

I'm on day 3 of my 2 week preop diet. The slightest smell of food is making me want to back out of surgery. I'm on 3-4 protein shakes and 3ozs of lean meat and a serving of veggies per day. I'm scheduled for gastric bypass on December 19th. I really need this surgery, but I'M STARVING! Any suggestions on how I can curb or ignore the hunger pains? Second thoughts!

A nurse shouldn't be passing on their personal opinion based on things they have seen, they have no idea of the patients' personal / medical history, they have no idea how compliant the person has or hasn't been post op. They Non-compliance could well have caused some of the issues they have supposedly seen. Talk to your doctor/surgeon about the concerns that she has caused you to have. You have obviously considered WLS because you are overweight and its usually not a first choice for weight loss, so I would say you have tried and failed at various weight loss methods. What will you do to lose weight if not WLS? I am sorry to hear about your friend, but was it confirmed that five years after WLS, that WLS causes the bowel obstruction. At the end of the day, you have to do what is right for you and what you feel safe with, but you should research further with other medical staff - your doctor, bariatric surgeons etc.

So, I went out last Saturday with a friend to a local bar. No, not to drink (although he did). I had been craving a chicken wing and just wanted one wing. Few things to preface this: First off, I *should* still be on puree due to my ulcer and secondly, DO NOT GET OLD BAY ON A WING IF YOU HAVE AN ULCER. Bad times were had. I confessed to my surgeon Tuesday and he said it was fine... but no spice! Derrrr. Anyways, me being a bad patient aside.... Eating out is so weird! I order 6 wings and a cheese plate. I had the one wing and two cheese cubes and I was stuffed. My friend ate 4 stuffed mushrooms, 12 wings, cheese cubes, and some other stuff. The bartender asked me about 6 times if I wanted a drink, even water, but I kept saying no because I didn't want to risk drinking while eating. Well, then old bay irritated my throat a bit and I wished I had a little sip to wash the spice down. I couldn't stop coughing because the back of my throat got itchy. So, lesson learned... get water... just in case you start choking. lmao. When I was "done" my solo wing, I asked for boxes. The bartender remarked that he was "wondering how I would eat all that food". In my head I was like "dude... before surgery I would have crushed all of this, had an entree, a dessert, and been about 4 vodka sodas deep soooooo." I imagine eating out is going to be quite a unique experience from now on. My friend got all my leftovers because it would have all gone bad before I could even have made a dent. Boxes please!

Challenge Starting weight: 199 Current weight lost: 30 Losing or maintaining weight: Lose Fitness/exercise goal: 5-6/week Total weight loss at the end of challenge: (from Dec 5 through Jan. 1)- 10 pounds Check in: Tell us how you are doing -I am doing well with small portions and have started running again, which I love. I used to like things which were pretty healthy for me- grilled chicken, eggs, etc. Now I have a really hard time with certain meats (chicken, turkey) and can't stand eggs. I also do weight watchers, so I track everything.

Fat stores estrogen, as you lose fat, your system gets flooded with estrogen, unfortunately your sex drive is controlled by your Testosterone levels. But, the good news is, that once you flush out a good amount of fat, and your body has a chance to balance out again, your sex drive should come back with a vengeance! As far as the dryness... get yourself some lube. Water based stuff doesn't hang around long, but it's condom friendly. Oil based stuff works amazing, but isn't condom friendly. Silicone lubes are more expensive typically but are both condom friendly AND has good staying power. And no need to go to an adult store for lube, all pharmacies carry lube and personal massagers now.

    January 2017 sleevers

Two weeks to go until I start my new job. Hoping that since I'll be away from the desk more it'll get me to help being more active. My body is in love being at 235 lbs and doesn't want to move away from that for whatever damned reason. Driving me insane! Spring is on the horizon and ready to put this damned winter behind us to get back outside and do more.
