    First restaurant post-op

I did it lads. Turns out steamed salmon was on the menu. It came with a creamy sauce but I just avoided that and there were some veggies I ate with it. For dessert we got a plate of petit fours. Lads, I DIDN'T EAT THE CHOCOLATE BROWNIE OR THE MERINGUE! OK I ate the mini apple pie thingy but it was really tiny me not too sweet. I am so proud of myself! This happens to me ALL the time! I have one little thing and get instantly re-addicted to sugar! I go, "well, it's Thanksgiving, it's a holiday... Mashed potatoes, stuffing, pie... Tomorrow I'll get on track". Then they send me a lovely to-go box... Including more pie... A smart person would have politely thrown the pie into the dumpster on the way home but.... And then, well heck, my diet is blown any way so I might as well have some hot cocoa, it's Christmas-time after all and it's been so cold lately... And I start craving sugar like MAD! Two weeks later and I am finally back on track... It's so easy to fall into trouble and so hard to climb back out. *Sigh*

    Special treats

I descoverd a perfect treat when you crave ice cream. Buy fat and sugar free yogurt. Plan and un flavored. Pop a cup in the freezer for 10 or 15 minutes. Then add a few drops of liquid water flavor enhancer. Like mio. Give it a try.

I think the technical reason u cant drink at the same time cuz it washes food thru and makes u hungry earlier. However, I physically can't drink when I eat, as it makes me vomit immediately. The food makes a cork inside and when I add fluid to that, out it comes. Everytime I try it. I no longer do that. I also don't time my drinking (the 30 minute rule) I can actually FEEL when my food has left my stomach (or pouch) and I'm ready to drink. Depends on what I eat and it can take 25 mins or 40 minutes, depending. I started with the lapband in 2009, it slipped in 2013 and I revised to sleeve. LAst 2 yrs I had severe, raging reflux and revised to bypass 4 months ago. I'm now 3 lbs from my 135 goal (when I get there, hopefully soon) I may make it 130 as my goal, as I still feel a little fat (my bmi is 23.4 so I know I'm not fat, but getting there in my brain is something else). So, I have a little experience with wls, drinking and eating. So please know that u WILL vomit the liquid (and food) u just put in if u drink right afterwards. When I eat something spicy, I swish water in my mouth then spit it out. I'm sure 1 sip may be ok, as I've also done this on occasion. Just don't make it a regular thing u do Good luck!

So, I went out last Saturday with a friend to a local bar. No, not to drink (although he did). I had been craving a chicken wing and just wanted one wing. Few things to preface this: First off, I *should* still be on puree due to my ulcer and secondly, DO NOT GET OLD BAY ON A WING IF YOU HAVE AN ULCER. Bad times were had. I confessed to my surgeon Tuesday and he said it was fine... but no spice! Derrrr. Anyways, me being a bad patient aside.... Eating out is so weird! I order 6 wings and a cheese plate. I had the one wing and two cheese cubes and I was stuffed. My friend ate 4 stuffed mushrooms, 12 wings, cheese cubes, and some other stuff. The bartender asked me about 6 times if I wanted a drink, even water, but I kept saying no because I didn't want to risk drinking while eating. Well, then old bay irritated my throat a bit and I wished I had a little sip to wash the spice down. I couldn't stop coughing because the back of my throat got itchy. So, lesson learned... get water... just in case you start choking. lmao. When I was "done" my solo wing, I asked for boxes. The bartender remarked that he was "wondering how I would eat all that food". In my head I was like "dude... before surgery I would have crushed all of this, had an entree, a dessert, and been about 4 vodka sodas deep soooooo." I imagine eating out is going to be quite a unique experience from now on. My friend got all my leftovers because it would have all gone bad before I could even have made a dent. Boxes please!

I'm lactose intolerant, too. I'm planning on using lactaid pills to help. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using BariatricPal mobile app

30 days out and FREEZING COLD

Yes, I can totally relate. Before surgery, which was only two weeks ago, I was always warm. Now I am freezing constantly. At home I have a blanket on me everywhere I go and at work I have a thick jacket on. I'm still cold. Now I know how my wife feels.

Fat stores estrogen, as you lose fat, your system gets flooded with estrogen, unfortunately your sex drive is controlled by your Testosterone levels. But, the good news is, that once you flush out a good amount of fat, and your body has a chance to balance out again, your sex drive should come back with a vengeance! As far as the dryness... get yourself some lube. Water based stuff doesn't hang around long, but it's condom friendly. Oil based stuff works amazing, but isn't condom friendly. Silicone lubes are more expensive typically but are both condom friendly AND has good staying power. And no need to go to an adult store for lube, all pharmacies carry lube and personal massagers now.
