Late to the "no hunger" party

The "you are guaranteed to lose your hunger" bs surrounding the sleeve is exactly that, bs. No surgery is guaranteed to make someone lose their hunger sensation. All the Ghrelin "research" isn't solid fact, we still don't understand hunger, how it happens, what *actually* triggers it, etc. Currently the information around Ghrelin is "we believe" not "we know". The sad truth is, the majority of WLS patients, no matter the surgery, will retain some level of hunger sensation or will regain that sensation within a year of surgery. It's rare that someone loses the sensation permanently. And some, never lose it at all. So if someone promised you that the sleeve would kill your hunger because it "removes" ghrelin production... well, they didn't tell you all the facts.

    Need help

Maybe start from scratch? Go back to protein shakes once or twice a day. Try to prepare your food ahead of time. So maybe put a portion in a container and know that’s what you can have. Also, try to go to a support group or therapy and talk it out. I like the support groups because I get good ideas and I don’t feel alone in this journey. You can get back on track!!!! Good luck!

Hey! I'm really sick of purees! But it's better than the liquid diet - that was brutal. I wish I never had to look at another protein drink as long as I live. I developed some serious food aversions on liquid because I was feeling so nauseous every time I ate something. So lots of things are cancelled. Moving on to purees. I'm doing much better b ut I still prefer to eat a large variety of food so I'm trying to mix it up a bit. Try some of these if you need ideas! (my favorite continues to be refried beans but I don't think I need a pic of that here) GREEK CHICKEN SALAD: rotisserie chicken, Trader Joe's tzatziki dip, black pepper, garnished with mint leaf (I food process the chicken and the sauce separately then mix them together with a spoon - it leaves just enough texture to keep me from going crazy - not a fan of chicken pudding) I also do regular chicken salad like this with mayo, lemon zest, dijon, salt, pepper; here's a pic of both

    Application denial

I have done my research, talked with my insurance, started monthly appointments with my PC doctor, and applied for the sleeve at OSU Wexner. I received a message from OSU stating my application was denied due to only having one comorbidity. I called my insurance back, and they assured me that I only needed one co-morbidity for coverage. In addition, I have another condition (NAFLD) that I don’t take meds for, and thus it wasn’t listed on my application (the application doesn’t ask for diagnoses, just medications). I am sure that my denial was an oversight, but now I am starting to worry. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

    3 days in to liquids....

...and oddly not hungry. I definitely feel like I'm missing something, but not necessarily food. I'm a little bit tired, but mostly just fine. A few pounds dropped off, but Premier stops me up like no tomorrow. So what I'm saying is......NOT SO BAD!!!

I thought I could go back to work after a week. I took two, I felt so tired and had to nap during the day. I was 60 when I had my surgery and the tiredness was a result of my body healing.

    Application denial

Yeah, I noticed it when I was comparing the USC and UCLA (both insurance approved). I met the criteria for one, but not the other. Of course, then my doctor was like, Nope. Not in our network! You're going somewhere completely different! I feel like I wasted a lot of my time [emoji23] [emoji23] Sent from my LG-G710 using BariatricPal mobile app
