    Six Months After My VSG

Thank you! I was wearing a size 18-20 jeans and XXL tops. I am now wearing a size 8-10 jeans and a Med-Large top. It is so weird looking at myself now and before.

    Protein

It's best to follow the plan set forth by your surgical team. My clear liquids were for 1 day post op and then I was allowed to go to protein shakes. But personally I remained on bone broth because my new pouch tolerated it better than the shakes. Most importantly, listen to the plan outlined by your team.

For me, almost any food. Nothing known yet that I can't eat after one year. I drink "shiploads" more water. My meals these days fit in a bowl or a side plate. If I eat out, I make sure I take a couple of ziplock bags or a tight-lidded "chinese" container. I inevitably cannot eat a main meal in one go any more. I usually order an entree only if the choices are suitable.

    Pre op diet

I am on day 6 of my 7 day liquid only diet. I do 3 protein shakes, SF jello, SF popsicles and 1 bowl of broth everyday. I have my moments when I really want solid food but I just grab a popsicle and it takes my mind off it. It's been easier than I thought. Surgery in 2 days.

    Pre op diet

I did 2 weeks liquid only. 4 shakes a day, sugar free yogurt, pudding and jello. Every program is different. Mine had a daily meal plan and it was very specific.

    Hungry after surgery

There’s always OA Overeaters Anonymous. I have been a member for about 18 months. I may have a smaller stomach, but that doesn’t mean my addiction won’t undermine my progress. I still pine away for food, so I think it’s time to head back to the ‘rooms’.
