    I have lost 45 pounds!

I have lost 45 pounds and I am so happy about this. I am so glad that I had the sleeve done. It has been almost 5 months since my surgery.

    One Month Post-Op Advice Please!

I just saw my Surgeon's PA and she only stated that right now I should be focused on my protein and water intake. I told her I was concerned about my carbs (30-40 Net) per day and she asked me where they were coming from. When I responded with Cottage Cheese, Beans, Nuts, etc... she asked if pasta, potatoes (white and sweet), rice were in that mix and I responded with no. I'm only eating non-starchy foods. She stated that's all that mattered. Stay away from starches and focus on Protein and water. Your goal is to work up to 90g of Protein per day and as @Matt Z said get upwards of 128 oz of water a day. In this early stage, stay focused on the 60g protein and more than 64oz of water. You will work up to increasing your portion sizes as your belly lets you. Listen to it. Chances are (and from what it looks like) you are still at a 1/4 cup per serving.

I’m 1.5 weeks post op. I’ve had no real issues so far, the surgery & healing process have been smooth sailing. I went to the movies with a friend last night, I noticed halfway through the movie that I would get a sharp pain under my left rib cage if I was to breathe deeply. It is not a steady pain, and I don’t even notice it when I breathe normally, but if I take a deep breath it starts to hurt And stops hurting when I let the breath out. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Diet or no diet

You can google bariatric friendly recipes. I still get in foods ruts at four years out. This is a long term sustainable way of eating and still is flavorful. I think the fear and questioning if you are doing this right is normal. It gets easier as food becomes habit. Beef, chicken, seafood, dairy and eggs. Hundreds of options to cook them. I do fajitas no tortilla, Smoked salmon salad, bariatric pizza (my goto) eggplant as lasagna layer instead of noodles. Experiment to find what you like. Below is my dieticians recipe page for food ideas. Make sure they fit your plan. http://insidekarenskitchen.com/bariatric-friendly-recipes/ Are you logging your food in a food app? I use myfitness pal. My food diary is open https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfitnesspal.android&hl=en_US My username is fit_chickx https://www.myfitnesspal.com/profile/fit_chickx

    One Month Post-Op Advice Please!

I'm with Matt. 32 lbs in 1 month is awesome! Why fret about something before it happens? I also was never advised to monitor my macro nutrients. Here's what I was told: Get 45-60g of protein every day. *Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I don't sweat it. Try to keep complex carbs "low", but they didn't specify what that is. From others, I set my own threshold on that at 25-30. Get minimum of 8 glasses of water per day. *again, sometimes I hit that, and sometimes I don't. Matt's also right about 400 calories being mighty low. Aside from my immediate post-op recovery, I don't think my caloric intake was ever THAT low. Eventually your body will think it's in some sort of starvation mode and stall your progress. I try to NEVER compare myself to others. My journey before, during, and after has been my own and unique to me. Comparisons only set me up for emotional distress and lead to failure.

    Weight loss HALT

Ah yes, the dreaded 3 week stall. It's very common and very discouraging. Stick with the program and you will get over this hump.

I'm less than 320 for the first time in many many years. I honestly cannot remember when. The lowest I can remember being is 325 back in 2015, but less than 320!?! I'm just over three weeks post-op and I'm down a total of 64.2 pounds lost since June 29, 2018, when I first saw the surgeon.
