Yes, I went on roller coasters. Granted, they were tame ones. But I had no problem.

No one can predict the future or how anyone will react to surgery, but I am 4.5 months out and can do that trip no problem. I have been to two amusement parks, a water park, all 2-3 months out with no ill-effects, I didn't slow anyone down nor get sick. The one thing i will say is that food will be a b*t ch. Watching every one eat without issues is tough and if you even try to keep up in that respect, you are going to get yourself sick. If you feel like you have the iron will to resist the Disney goodies(no more than a taste) then I say go for it and have a great time.

I was. Big surgery - a bypass, and via open surgery (cut from rib center to belly button) not keyhole. After four months this would have been a breeze, so barring complications it should be for you too. Both post-surgery irritations, but also your new eating style will be pretty settled by then... and you’ll deserve a vacation! And you’ll be thinner, healthier!!

Are you saying you had severe reflux in the past? If so, VSG may not be your best option. But if you just had bad heartburn on rare occasions, that's different. However, if you had it occasionally, there's no way to predict whether you'll get it after surgery. My doctor is currently trying to decide if I should get a revision due to reflux. I don't think I had reflux before, but I'm not positive and did not have an endoscopy before the surgery. However, due to swallowing issues after surgery, he sent me for an upper GI and I completely impressed the radiologist (never a good thing.) Every time I swallowed, I was refluxing all the way to my collarbones. However, it is a small percentage of VSGs that need to be revised. If I didn't have a real issue with GERD before, it wouldn't be a major factor in which surgery I chose. Have you had an endoscopy to see if you have GERD damage now?

If I eat salad it’s harder to measure as it’s usually when I go out. I posted a pic on the food before and after of a Panera salad I ate. I usually eat the protein parts of it with some lettuce and veg but always have a lot left. Soups or stews I can definitely eat one cup easily.

At 9 months this is actually on the smaller side. At 3months my RD was saying 1cup of food for life.

Let's not forget that just because we can doesn't mean we should. After surgery you may not feel fullness as nerves have been cut and things take time to heal. Weigh and measure your food because you cannot always trust your feelings and could do some real physical damage.

It's totally individualized results... I don't consume alcohol so I can't help you there Generally you'll want to follow your post surgical plan to the letter and discuss any modifications to it with your team, but really wait until after surgery to consider the all of the details...

Well, i called this morning and prayed while i was on hold. She came back on and read me the letter stating approval. I asked her to email it to me please and then i forwarded it to the surgeon. I'm waiting now to see what happens next. This was the "pre-certification" packet that was approved. I remember them telling me after that approval, they'd have to send in the pre-authorization for surgery with a surgery date. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
