My bag is packed! Surgery in the AM

Well I am next week, September 5th, but I will take a corner of the Well Wishes for myself. Hey hope for the best, work with the not'-the-best and make this journey your own. Step by Step into the future🌈 and may there be only sunny days ahead!

    6 Week Goal

You're better off focusing on things you can control. Like a goal to stay totally on plan for 6 weeks. You may very well lose 20 or more pounds the first six weeks. But it's also possible to be completely perfect on your plan and to lose less. Focus on healthy decisions, not numbers, imho. Good luck, and I hope you lose 25!

Three tablespons is about right at this stage. Time and healing will relax it.

    Sleeve to Bypass

Going through process to get approved for Bypass after Sleeve. Sleeved in 2012 and have regained the 70 lbs lost. Acid reflux is returning, though it never fully went away. Just turned 55 and wondering about process and healing now that I've gotten older. I was a nervous wreck prior to getting gastric sleeve and once again find myself in that space. Same surgeon so that makes me feel better. He is one of the top bariatric surgeons in country but surgery is surgery. Woke up this morning thinking about bowel obstruction, and long term issues. Anyone over 50 have any issues post conversion?

I had surgery in 2008. My comorbidities (health issues) went into remission the very next day. I lost most of my weight within the first 6 months. Over time I managed to get down to 104 #'s. However, I had a full hysterectomy and my body has been out of whack ever since. Originally I lost 109 #'s but then gained 82 #'s back since 2015. Most of the medical conditions have returned and now that i'm older and I've broke the rules for so long, I am finding that losing it all over again isn't as easy as it was the first time around. Knowing what I know now.....I wish I could go back and change several things. I had an upper GI with barium not to long ago to see if my pouch is streached or if something was wrong with it. Low and behold the drs said my pouch looked like it was just done yesterday. The Dr said it is literally the size of a medicine cup. So, the tool is still there and is in good shape, just have to reteach my mind & body the proper way to use the tool to my advantage.

    I’m terrible at this!

We can't motivate you for you. That's where YOU have to take the ball and run with it. Big thing is to not beat yourself up for the mis-steps. They happen, it's what you chose to do next that matters. Missing going to the gym? Well, GO! Stop making excuses and go. Not following your diet? Well, Stop it! Start following your diet and stop making excuses. Push yourself! No one else is going to make you feel horrible because you ate crap and aren't doing what you know you are supposed to do. No one else is going to look back at you in the mirror and be disappointed because you didn't do what you knew you should have. Just do it. You know you have to, You know why you have to, The ONLY way to get past feeling the way you do... is to do what you know you are supposed to. So stop dwelling on the crap that happened yesterday, focus on what you need to do to be successful TODAY.

Hey yall Im having my first dumping syndrome , I’m 12 days post op and I ate to fast. So I’m sweating and my heart is racing and I feel so nauseous... Headache I think I was so cocky with saying everything is going smoothly with recovery and no dumping that it caught up to me. Good lord , it’s no joke when they say you can have dumping syndrome. I was hungry and i just took a bite after a bite and now I’m feeling miserable .

Is salmon too fatty for post op diet?

I thought it was the carbs you had to watch for?? So basically low carb low fat. My nutrition classes always stressed low carb. Now I'm confused
