    1 day post op story

Congrats on overcoming and getting through it. You are very lucky to have such a great surgeon. Wish mine had this knowledge. My recovery was not bad but could have been better. Good luck with your journey!!!

    Getting sleeved tomorrow!

Well, I did it! Made it home today. I ended up staying a day extra in the hospital because my oxygen was low. But I feel so much better now--I am sore, and sleepy, but I feel so much better being home. I was probably the most chicken person in the world for getting VGS. If I can do it, anyone can!

    Surgiversary!

I had my revision one year ago today. I’m shocked and amazed at the changes that have occurred this year. My boobs have disappeared, I lost a lot of hair... but more importantly I’m no longer overweight. I still have a belly (and lose skin) but I’m learning to love myself just as I am. I’m so thankful to be on this road. Now I just need to get my butt back in the gym, good news is that it is within walking distance now. No regrets. ❤️

    Obese since early childhood

I have also been obese since childhood. I remember being on and off diets since the age of ten or eleven. I do get hungry but not in the same way as before surgery. I am not constantly thinking about what things I am going to eat and my cravings for most foods are gone. I do still occasionally crave things but the compulsion to give in and buy them is much less and easy to resist at this point. I felt bypass was right for me as I have been obese my whole life that I can remember.

    Hernia Repair

Mine was nasty....a big portion of my stomach was sliding up and living in my chest cavity! Not great for breathing! Prolly popped it open in one of my many horse riding accidents when I went flying off and hit the ground with a resounding thud. Or, it might just be genetic. No way of knowing, really. Maybe I strained to poop too hard? (sadly this actually can be a cause of hiatal hernia) My money's on horse crashes. Fixed now and am very glad it is:)

You're brave. I could feel the pain in your words, but I could also feel a renewed sense of hope for better things to come. LIFE has kicked you around long enough. Now it's your turn to kick LIFE in the nuts!! Continue to vent. It helps you to get rid of a lot of the toxic "shame" that has been holding you back.
