    Pureed foods

Chicken pureed with a tiny bit of mayo or Greek yogurt and different seasonings (curry powder is great), same with salmon/tuna/crab, cottage cheese with some sugar free jam, refried beans with a little taco seasoning and salsa, cream soups with added protein powder. Check out http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html for some more pureed ideas.

    A 4 year Journey

What a journey it has been. I am 4 years post VSG. When I decided to have surgery it was out of medical necessity. I was at a point where I was almost non-functional. Although I work in a busy industry, I would spend most of my work days parked behind a desk because I could hardly move or breathe. I had multiple health co-morbidities including PCOS, insulin resistance, weight-induced asthma, heart valve prolapse, GERD, Barrett's, fatty liver, hypertension, and more. I always SWORE I 'wouldn't be that patient that regained'. In fact, I was actually one of my surgeon's most successful patients for some time. I was the prized patient, I followed every rule, instruction and diet point to the T. I lost a lot of my initial weight very quickly. After my initial weight loss I was feeling good, changed careers, moved and set about having a new life. But then I had a devastating loss in my life, and several life changes followed. I had some significant regain and had health problems again start to surface. I spent a lot of time online asking for help and researching all of the ''reset' options. What it took me a while to realize was this: I KNEW what to do. I just had not come to the place where I was 100% committed to doing it. Thankfully, last fall I got some really unfortunate health news. I say thankfully because it was THE thing I needed to kick me in the pants and get me back on track. I have been completely focused since that day and have successfully lost all of my regain and am now within 20 lbs of my ultimate goal. I am looking forward to having my plastics done at that point and will feel like my long 4 year journey has been fulfilled. I will always identify as a WLS patient, that part never goes away. I still have great restriction with my sleeve and since getting back on track, I find that my restriction is improved. I feel great and wanted to offer my story because I know that most of the members on the forum are newer than me, and hopefully my story will inspire you or spark some questions.

    PSA: don’t freeze Premier!!

So I’m on my 2 week preop liquid diet and we decided to go camping this weekend. (Which was its own brand of hell in itself). I decided to freeze a couple bottles of Premier so they could naturally thaw in the cooler Saturday and be cold for today (Sun). Oh man, it did some weird separation in the thawing process and ended up being chunky. So not only did I have to endure my family enjoying grilled hamburgers, corn on the cob, and s’mores around the campfire, I had to choke down chunky peach premier.

A bit of nausea is going to be expected while moving around for a bit, things are different inside you, so it'll take a little bit for everything to figure out what's what. Just keep moving!

Thank you for the kind words—you have no idea how much I needed them right now. You gave me a boost after a few very dark days. Thank you. Moving forward, slowly but surely. ❤️

    Hard lump under incision

Yep mine feel the same. I’m 12 days post op. And when I stretch it sort of looks like there is a small area under the incision that is like cinched? Not sure how to describe it. Like maybe there is a stitch in the fascia.

    Eating too much?

Some foods are easier to eat larger amounts of, usually they are softer in texture, some people (me) lovingly call them sliders . Not a big deal when its protein based and you need the macros, a much bigger deal when the foods hold little to no nutritional value for your current lifestyle (crackers-no judgment I promise). To help with this you can eat only the recommended size (1/4-1/2 cup), watch out for these sliders and make sure you are eating for 30 mins or less (part of the 30/30/30 rule) because the stomach does eventually empty (it can happen while you are eating) Eating for longer periods means you'll be replacing cals too quickly and runs the risk of grazing (which means higher cal consumption effectively canceling out the effects of the surgery) Check with your team for more clarity

    4 Days Post Op DS

I am now 13 days post op. I feel good. Yesterday I weighed in at 203 - not bad at all. I had my first follow-up last Wednesday, 7/18. Everything checked out fine, and I was given the green light to move to soft foods. And, because shrimp is easily digestible, I was also given the "ok" to eat this - and I had no issues with it (had it for lunch and dinner that day). It feels so good to be eating real food again. My current goal is 30g of protein per day, but I've been getting closer to 40 and going to take in more protein water to get it even higher. Per doc's instructions, I will start lifting 5 lb weights for my arms to build some muscle. I've been getting in my water a lot easier now - meeting my 64 oz daily goal.
