I was talking to my husband about the judgement passed on people who have bariatric surgery. He is on the fence about the whole "easy way out" thing. But he is being supportive of me. So he tells me that when he thinks about the easy way out, he compares it to jumping off a plane. The easy way out would be when someone pries your fingers of the plane and pushes you out. That's the easy way out but the problem is that after that the is no getting back on the plane. So you are screaming all the way down hoping the parachute will open. My response was, think about it this way you are on a plane that has lost its engines. They tell you they are going to try landing it but chances are it will still be a crash landing and many on the plane will die. Or you can put on one of the parachutes and jump? So what do you choose? The plane is obesity. We know it is a killer. Some live long, normal lives while being obese, but the majority will get sick in various ways and die prematurely. If you jump, which is having the surgery, the parachute might not open but the chances of that are minimal. The parachute might open late and you will get seriously hurt, but you survive and end up living a long life. You might not land well because you don't know how to parachute and break your legs. But you still land and live. So which one do you choose? Stay on the plane and hope you survive the crash? Or jump and take the risks of jumping with the more likelihood of survival? It is a personal decision that only you can make for yourself. I choose to jump off the DAMN plane!!!! Because I am already on the plane and the only decisions you can make are jump or crash. The option to never get on the plane to begin with is long gone.

I agree, there is no magic formula. There are many successful people on here who have followed wildly different plans. Stalls happen no matter what. They happen no matter what you're eating and what you're doing. Weight loss is non linear, period.

There isn't one. Everyone's process is different. Everyone's stalls are caused by different things. The best answer is, make sure you are tracking EVERYTHING. Make sure you are exercising. Make sure you know your BMR (and pay attention to it since it changes as you age and lose weight) and that you are coming in under your BMR daily. And if you are only tracking your weight, and not body fat %, you are missing out on a pretty important measurement. If you are working out, you can lose fat and gain weight.

    natural vs added sugars

My requirements (those given to all WLS for my surgeon/hospital/etc) were no more than 5 grams of sugar or 5 grams of fat if they were any added sugars in the ingredients list. If you've got no sugar listed, it didn't matter what the total was, it was *ONLY* if there was some form of sugar in the ingredients. It's different for everyone. Even folks on the same diet are going to have different reactions to added sugar amounts. If it works for you, just make sure you go easy on it, you don't want to slowly creep back up, it's easy to go... well, 13 grams was no issue, so 15 shouldn't be... then 15 becomes higher, etc... Not saying it will, just that it could. As soon as you negative a "rule", it doesn't hold the same weight and becomes so much easier to justify. I'd say, until you are cleared for the "full raw foods", or whatever the last stage you have to be cleared for before you start to venture outside of the prescribed diet restrictions. Just so you've got the full time healing and following their recommendations under your belt and are out of the early stages of healing, just in case there is a problem, if it's on their diet, then it's not your fault if something goes wrong, if that makes sense. Think of it like being under a manufacturers warranty LOL.

Bear in mind that Britain is completely different to the rest of Europe 😊 I recommend you find a shop called Holland and Barrett, they’re everywhere over here and do a great selection of protein bars and powders, as well as low carb meals and snacks. There’s at least one in pretty much every city so shouldn’t be hard to find one!

I think you're pretty safe with protein powders and bars. You may not be comfortable with this, but I wouldn't declare it. That way you'd have to get pulled for a random customs inspection, and the inspector would have to disallow the whey. So the risk would be almost nil. I've never been on a tour, but I assume you get some free time in the evenings? You could pop into a grocery store then. Or if not, then I assume you might make some convenience store restroom stops, there is guaranteed to be at least nuts available. I won't be there for Tattoo. I will be there for the Edinburgh Fringe. But we only have 1 night in Edinburgh, so not going to be able to experience much of it. Where all does your tour go?
