You can add ALL SORTS of stuff to cottage cheese and plain yogurt (greek works better for savory IMO) It's pretty easy really, just find a seasoning or mix or marinade mix that you enjoy, and mix a bit into the cottage cheese or yogurt. It's going to take some experimentation to get a flavor that you are happy with, but it's legit just as easy as mixing in some premixed powders. And you can add some unflavored protein as well to boost your protein intake. My pre-op was SF jello, watermelon, protein shakes and celery (I could eat as much of this as I wanted)... celery was my go to, since I could eat as much as I needed but it got old very quickly. So I started coating up pre-cut celery with seasonings like "Pub Burger" seasoning or "Maple Bacon" seasoning. And boy did that make things easier to deal with! So, go crazy, find yourself some seasonings you are interested in and start mixing them into your approved foods and just go wild! You never have to sacrifice flavor during this whole process, you just need to play around a bit.

    Snarky comments

This is particularly disturbing... assuming that your co-workers are also nurses. Where is their empathy? I can't believe that their main focus is on how much time you might get off. As for the "nurse" attempting to dissuade you from having the surgery, that's just bizarre. If this had been a procedure for a different disease, ie. a " real disease" , I doubt if there would be the same level of indifference. It's hard to respect people who show such little concern for the health and well-being of others. Just curious, but is the co-worker who is trying to talk you out of the procedure, also obese? Sometimes, it seems, people who don't have the courage to have bariatric surgery themselves or who can't afford it (if not covered by insurance), try to sabotage the decision of those who want the surgery. To hell with your pin-headed co-workers. Where were they in 2013 when the AMA classified obesity as a disease? It is also evident that you are basically a nice person. After all, you still want to be polite even when you tell them to take a hike! (Hey, that almost rhymes.)

What'd your Doctors say about it when you asked them? Have you tried adjusting the temp of the water? Does it happen with all fluids or just water? Does it happen with flavored water?

In my surgeon's program everyone has to have 6 months supervised nutrition appointments, keep a food and exercise journal, apnea evaluation, cardiac clearance, psych eval, blood tests, EDG, etc before a date for surgery is set - it takes 6-7 months for all of that. Each surgeon is different, each state's medicaid program is also different. Medicaid in Illinois does not cover nutrition appointments and that $385 must be paid out of pocket up front - then the rest is covered - a good deal considering the bill is $61,000 total.

I was told by the nutritionist, while I'm on my pre-op liquid diet, to expect some type of body odors due to being in ketosis. I don't know if it's the same kind of odor you are talking about though. Could have something to do with it, I suppose.

I don't think thats a normal reaction to be honest. I have no pain when eating and I had surgery just over 2 months ago.

    Skinny Girl Products

Has anyone tried the Skinny Girl products? Besides the name choice, I love them. I love the raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing and the sea salt and lime popcorn! Anyone try them, or have suggestions for other things I haven't tried yet?

Everything I've tried has been really good. I, too, LOVE the salad dressing, especially the raspberry vinaigrette. I'm not sure you can beat the flavor for what the calories are!

I haven't been able to wear shorts in over a decade. Today, while on my first vacation in years, I tried on and bought my first pair of shorts. I have lost close to 70lbs and today can fit into an XL shirt and a size 16 bottoms. That's coming from a 4x top and a size 24 bottoms just 4.5 months ago. I am too excited with my progress!! I feel like I not only have a second chance at life, but I have a hindsight that will allow me to do things a bit better this time. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
