Ever since I can remember, I have been the "fat guy". That is what I was known for. I never took my shirt off at a pool or a beach, ever! That is something I want to change though. So, my best friend who I graduated high school together has always been much slimmer, popular, girls flocked to him; I sure you get the drift. Although we have been friends for over two decades I feel he never took me seriously because of my weight. At parties, clubs, bars, social situations I was always the one who was ignored and not payed attention too. Well, he moved out of state and we see each other about twice a year. He has a very stressful job and as a result has been emotionally eating and gained a significant amount of weight. He is one of the few that know that I had my surgery and he is very supportive. We saw each other for the first time in over a year last week and guess what...drum roll.....I weigh less than him. He even made a comment on how I was flirting with the waitress at the restaurant we met at. It felt like I was in his shoes for once. It felt truly that the tables have turned.

I had the Bypass and was told no alcohol for 6 months, I don't think there was a duration for coffee, I'm drinking 1 cup daily at this point now and I started not long after my 3 month mark. Just aim for some low acid coffee and make sure to add some milk to allow the caffeine to bind to it, since high acid content and caffeine binding to calcium is some of the reasons we don't want to be consuming coffee too soon.

    natural vs added sugars

Thank you, I'll need to try to stick to stricter guidelines. I wish there was a bariatric bible all doctors had to follow so everyone was on the same page...lol

I can see the how the info can relate. However, i don't believe that poverty overpowers of human nature to learn from our hardships. There are many people who use their resources wisely, and many who don't. What differentiates them? I don't know. From my experience with the people who I know that abuse the resource, it seems like they don't spend it, like they earned it. They have no sense of responsibility to use it wisely. They know that it will be there, month after month. No worry that the amount will change, or the date. Its dependable, and predictable. They don't feel like food is a bill. In my house, we frequently talk about our "food bill". I'm NOT of course, referring to everyone on food stamps.

Hi there. Thanks for checking in. Yes. No fever. Tolerating protein shakes and water with crystal light. No nausea/vomiting. Sore belly but that’s normal. Hope everyone else is doing well also.

I have an update. Got my letter today from JFS and I qualify for transitional Medicaid for at least 3 more months! As long as I can carry the same provider, I should be good to go! I may have been all worked up over nothing! (Hopefully).

United healthcare approved me today (UHC-Choice) My surgeons office said I must do 6 months of diet/sleep apnea study/nutritional visit/phyc eval/ekg/and get cleared for surgery. I asked is that my insurance requirements or yours? Billing coordinator (very rude through the whole process) no,no that's ins requirements see here. She pulls up what I know as "general guidelines" I told her that wasn't required of my lapband- please submit for me. She refused without medical clearance and a endoscopy/colonoscopy- I complied. Now please submit- shes stays true to her nasty self"what am I submitting? your band has no issue and you have done the requirements. Me please just submit as is.. Billing coordinator- well I will but this is a waste of time....... This am ,Approval letter is on myuhc. Cant wait to call miss congeniality on Monday. I posted here so some will hear my story and find hope that you may get approved!!

    Not losing :(

What you may be saying to yourself right now is: "but you don't understand! I lost 25 of those pounds during the first 2 weeks!" The thing is, the body likes losing slow and steady. When you drop more than an average amount (say, 1-2lbs a week)... a LOT of your losses are water. Water comes and goes, and can play havoc with the scale. For example, let's say you DID see a 25 pound shift on the scale over the first 2 weeks. Sorry, it wasn't 25lbs of FAT. A good chunk of that was just water (probably 15-20 pounds of it). Over time, your body has cycled through water and fat, and by now, you probably HAVE lost about 37lbs of fat. It looks like you are 11 weeks out. I had lost 36lbs during the first 11 weeks postop. (I started at 305lbs). I'm now 8.5 months out and have lost 101lbs. You've just got to give it time. I figure it might take me another 8+ months to get to goal. But who cares? What else am I gonna do?
