hang in there Tracy. nothing easy or fun about the pre op diet. and the carb/sugar addiction withdrawals are crazy hard. the better you do at getting them out of your system the easier it will be post op when you can do real damage to your wl progress if you eat those kinds of foods instead of the healthy choices you will need to make going forward. Do the best you can and understand that it will all be worth it very soon. day to day this time seems endless but it is a very small part of the rest of your life that you are reclaiming and you will barely remember this week a few months from now. good luck

    Whirlwind... 35 days out!

New to this app and these forums! In 35 days I am having my GS surgery. I’m not so much as nervous for the surgery, I’m more scared I won’t wake up from the surgery and will die. Back in April I had a miscarriage, I didn’t tell anyone about the miscarriage including my bf. Which lead to me becoming depressed and pushing him away. 2 weeks into April I had the opportunity come up for me to be able to get surgery, meaning my aunt had money from when my uncle passed. My depression has gotten worse since the break up. He’s already moved onto a new relationship. I’m going to therapy. Trying a new church out on Sunday (haven’t gone since I was 17, I’m 30 now). Starting a yoga class tonight and I have deleted all social media off of my phone. I also have started to share with people close to me about my miscarriage. I hope I am mentally ready for this in 5-6 weeks. My pre-op appointment is on July 16th and my surgery date is August 16th. I have to do 4 weeks of the pre-op diet.

    Gastric Bypass Reversal

Thank you Orchids I have been on the 3 different meds to control the ulcers and unfortunately they are not as successful as they need to be. I am 5'9 and 50 years old and have actually lost over 180 pounds and am still losing so it is not a good situation to be in. I am hopeful someone on this site may have been through this, I am a Consumer Loan Officer at a bank and it is very difficult coming to work and putting on a smile when you are nauseated after every meal you have eaten.

    Sleeping and bizzare dreams

I just read up on vitamin B12. Studies show they cause vivid dreams/nightmares. It recommended to take the vitamin early in day, maybe that would help. As of right now, I’m enjoying my vivid dreams lol

    Reduced food following WLS

Here is the perspective of one bariatric surgeon on how our meal volume progresses over time. In short, after a few years, we will typically be able to eat about half of what we could eat pre-op in a sitting or meal. This is consistent with my experience at seven years out, and my wife's at thirteen years out. There is still enough restriction to aid in effective long term weight control, but also plenty of capacity to go overboard on the wrong foods and see extensive regain. This doc is one of the few that I have seen that discusses this aspect of our surgery, and offers a prescription on how to mitigate the negatives of it. You may or may not get along with his prescription (I don't buy into everything he says....) but he does offer a model that we can use to develop our own approach to long term maintenance and weight control.

That’s amazing! All of you have lost a lot. I guess the important part is that the number on the scale keeps going down, not how fast it takes. Fingers crossed!!
