    I lost 100 lbs!!!!

It has happened!! I lost 100 lbs! 313 to 213! To celebrate, I got a new tattoo, not a Thanksgiving type meal I normally would have given myself as a reward. Such a great feeling, but now on those last 53 lbs.... I have my next goals, but what are my next rewards? What do you reward yourself with when you meet goals, weight or otherwise? Let me hear them, let me hear your latest accomplishments!

I think it depends on what you consider normal. Unfortunately most western diets normal means highly processed foods, high sugar and high fat which is a deadly combination If by normal you mean lots of veggies, unrefined carbs and healthy proteins and fats then no problem, sounds like a good maintenance diet. For myself as I get close to goal it’s becoming clear for me that I will always want those things and will have to manage myself to some degree. It’s not that I don’t eat the occasional sweet or chip, but I do manage for the vast majority of what I eat is not triggering old cravings or a slippery slope. It probably depends a lot on what got you overweight to begin with and what triggers old patterns.

Why would a hernia warrant WLS?

I met a woman during my last surgeon meetup who was having the surgery for this reason. Anyone that would look at her would wonder why she would be getting it since she's not that big. Turns out you have to be a certain size for some hernia surgeries. With her, she had a couple and they refused to do the most recent one til she had lost all the weight.

This board is full of people that surpass the averages. Fingers crossed that we can join them, Fluff. I like to have a solid, realistic goal.. and when I get there, then move the bar lower. Who knows.. maybe we'll be thrilled with 170 or 180! Lol. What I don't want to do is convince myself that 150 will come easily, then beat myself up if I don't get there. Keep in mind, the nadir weights on that chart are at 28 months postop on average.. so weight can continue coming off for well over a year postop.

I am a medical professional and I would say to stay away from the traditional BMI chart. It does not take into consideration body type or percent of lean muscle. I use the meter my trainer has which tells me I am at 23% body fat. That might sound like a big number but professional athletes and marathon runners are in the teens, so take that into consideration and I will go with it.

So I did alot of research regarding mood changes like depression after sleeve. I am pretty sure I was already triple depressed and stressed. So if anything my mood has improved a bit. Can anyone relate.
